I am looking to buy a new PC, preferably an all-in-one. Does anyone have any advice on a computer recommendations and programs so I'll be able to read and submit UHD 4K disc IDs? Thanks for any helpful info

I suggest the program "DVD Profiler for Windows" to readout Disc IDs.

I believe there are only one or two drives out there that can actually "read" the Disc ID's for UHD discs. Neither of my LG BD burners with the latest firmware (and BDXL capable) will read them...and I even just had to reinstall Windows 10 the other month.

I think there is currently only one drive out there right now for sale that is capable of playing UHD discs, and that is the Pioneer BDR-211UBK.

As far as software programs, Cyberlink's PowerDVD 17 Ultra is the only current program that I know of which can actually play the discs.

If you're just looking for a drive that can read the disc solely for Disc ID generation then the LG WH16NS40 will work.

I have that drive with the most recent firmware, but no UHD discs will ever register on it.

Don't you also need the latest 7th Gen Intel® Core™ i7 processor in order to ready 4K UHD discs?

That drive is four years old.

I have that drive and it works for me.  What's the firmware version of your drive?

EDIT:  A bit more info, my drive was manufactured in August 2016 and lists F/W version 1.02.  Most applications only show the 1.02 and not the 1.02-A0.  However, Imgburn does show something interesting although I don't know if it means much.

On the menu bar, Tools -> Drive -> Capabilities, the capabilities screen shows 1.02 (1.02-N0)

EDIT2:  The HL-DS Firmware loader seems to show my drive has the original 1.02-00 firmware.

The WH16NS40 is the same drive as the BH16NS40, but without the extra fluff (software, cables, etc.).  The Korean HL-DS web site shows a f/w version 1.03-C0 for the BH16NS40.

An i7 or i5, but there is a boat load of requirements artificially levied on the user to be able to playback UHD Blu-ray.

Operating System:  Windows 10

CPU:
・7th generation Intel® Core™ i7/i5 processor for Desktop PC (Kaby Lake-S)
・7th generation Intel® Core™ i7/i5 processor for Notebook PC (Kaby Lake-H)
*U processor is incompatible

GPU:  Intel® HD Graphics 630 (Internal GPU for 7th generation processor)

Memory:  6GB minimum

External Display:
・HDMI 2.0a and HDCP 2.2 compatible
・4K display (3840 x 2160 minimum display resolution)
・HDR compatible(Incompatible display reproduces HDR contents with HDR>SDR format.)

Motherboard:
・Intel® SGX(Software Guard Extensions) support Intel® 200 series motherboard
・HDCP 2.2/HDMI 2.0a output compatible

The Pioneer BDR-S11J-BK is an Ultra HD 4K Blu-ray Burner internal drive and it is fairly new and currently available.

Yes, mine also has the most recent firmware (1.02) installed. It just will not read UHD discs. They spin and spin with the blue light on, and then eventually just stop.
