| Posted: | | | | What's This?A tool for analyzing your cast & crew data to find similar names that most likely refer to the same person. Results are presented in an interactive report, where you can resolve name variants by choosing a common name, or exclude incorrectly associated names. New Features in Version 2.5Integrated as plugin in DVD Profiler 3. You will find the new Name Variants command on the Tools menu. Can analyze the Live database currently open in DVD Profiler or an exported XML file.Lets you pick a common name from all the variants for a person and update the affected DVDs just with a mouse click.Other Feature HighlightsChoice between separate and merged analysis of cast and crew.Maintains an Exclusion file for incorrect name variants (false positives), which is updatable just with a mouse click directly from the generated report.Customizable report format. You decide, whether details such as production year or UPC should appear in the report.RequirementsDVD Profiler 2.4/2.5 (InterVocative) or DVD Profiler 3.0 (Invelos). The latter one is needed to use the new features.Microsoft Windows 2000, Windows XP or newer.Microsoft XML Parser (MSXML) 3.0 or newer. Installing either MSXML 4.0 or 6.0 is strongly recommended.Optional: DVD Profiler Automation Object, for jumping directly from a DVD in the report to DVD Profiler 2.x. You don't need the Automation Object for DVD Profiler 3.Known IssuesThe install.cmd may not work on Windows Vista. In this case, open a command prompt as administrator, switch to the folder containing the unzipped files, and type regsvr32 NVPlugin.dll to register the plugin.Analyzing the Live database is currently much slower than analyzing an exported XML file, it takes about the same time as the XML export process itself. If the Name Variants Report prompts you to overwrite existing Credited As data, you cannot switch to the DVD Profiler main window (it appears to be frozen) until you have answered the prompt.Download at http://www.geocities.com/goodguy_dvdpro/Feedback is appreciated. Enjoy your cross-linked cast & crew. Report Creation WizardInteractive Report | | | Matthias | | | Last edited: by goodguy |

| Posted: | | | | Well it does not work for me. Selecting a common name result in a profile with empty genres, studios, crew, features, disc infos & audio and video formats... And this for the usage of the common name of Andre Charisse (André Charisse) in the Pink Pather's A Shot in the Dark. | | | Martin Zuidervliet

I have temporarly disabled the download until I have investigated the issue. | | | Matthias | | | Last edited: by goodguy |

| Posted: | | | | Same problem here, but I chose a common name for the crew and it removed the cast, not the other way around as the other had tried. Title: Carnivàle: The Complete First Series. | Posted: | | | | Version 2.5.1 is available. Bugfix for accidental data loss during common name update. The program now also sets the LastEdited field for each updated DVD. Now that was disturbing. The bug was introduced during some last minute optimizations - just a tiny little flag. And while I did test these changes, I only looked at the data updated (or not) and not at the surrounding stuff that disappeared. Well, you know that these .0 versions never work correctly anyway. When you install the update, make sure that you have closed DVD Profiler, Name Variants and any Name Variants Report. You can simply overwrite the old files. | | | Matthias |

| Posted: | | | | Many variants are about Jr/Sr - Example: "Ed Begley Jr." or "Ed Begley, Jr." which one is correct - didn't find anything in the contribution guidelines. |

Thanks, the program works OK now. The only thing I would like to see is the support of the Changes Made Icon. | | | Martin Zuidervliet
