Normally use Kijkwijzer, but if the first original release is rated by the old rating system (Videovoorlichtingsysteem, before 2002) then you should use this as rating.

Yes, you're right. In the old system there's also 12 (blue instead of red), AL (green) and AL - Meekijken Gewenst (also green). As far as I know the old system has no Rating Details (except for AL - Meekijken Gewenst, but that is covered by the Rating AL+MG).

Correction. It's: Drugs- en/of alcoholmisbruik

Move your mouse pointer to the syringe (injectiespuit) in the toolbar of kijkwijzer to see the up-to-date description.

so no rating details in Videovoorlichtingsysteem not even the Meekijken Gewenst?

I think this is already covered by AL+MG, MG stands for Meekijken Gewenst, isn't it?

On the kijkwijzer page itself it still says "Drugs- en alcoholmisbruik".

On the English page it also says "drugs- and alcoholabuse" (even though alcohol abuse should be two words    )

Yes, please, let's use the correct, updated description for this: "en/of" is really far more accurate than just "en".

I request all the Dutch users NOT to enter the details of "Kijkwijzer" into "Videovoorlichtingsysteem"-rated movies, because those are two different systems!!! The new system is a self-regulation system and is done by the suppliers themselves,
while the old one was done by a commission.

I, on the other hand, support the exact opposite point of view. The bottom line is that the "rating details" field is meant to show/explain/clarify WHY a particular film was given a certain rating. Leaving it empty doesn't tell us anything. If not shown on the cover or on-screen, then the rules specifically allow us to obtain the rating details from the "region-specific ratings information website". For The Netherlands, that website is www.kijkwijzer.nl, and there you can find the rating details. IMHO, this is perfectly acceptable, also for DVD's that still use the old-style logos.

The biggest problem is that we don't know which aspects of a particular movie made the people from the old system decide to give a certain rating, and by just adding the details of the new system it would appear that these are the same decisive aspects. This will lead to confusion and disinformation and should be avoided at all costs.

NOT having any rating details tells us nothing at all. The rating details from the only official source available to us are absolutely valid, film-specific information. Think about this: if the exact same film, on the exact same disc, is re-packaged and re-released today (and this happens frequently), it would get a new Kijkwijzer-style logo. According to you, then we suddenly WOULD be allowed to enter those same rating details? So the exact same film, on the exact same DVD, in the same locality, should have an empty "rating details" field in one profile, and a neatly filled "rating details" field in the other? That just doesn't make sense to me. The rating details apply to the FILM, not to the COVER.

Again, here we have a rules-allowed, official source to take the rating details from. It's valid, film-specific data. Please: let's use it.
