| Posted: | | | | First season TV series...here are some I liked, what did you like? One of the reasons I buy TV series is that I like to watch the complete season with a minimum of interruptions. Three new series I bought from their descriptions and reviews that I thought I would enjoy and they are Sanctuary, Fringe and Lie to Me. I just finished viewing them and I did enjoy them and I'm looking forward to their second season. IMHO Lie to Me is best of the bunch: premise, cast, acting, production and writing. Based on the research conducted by Paul Ekman a renowned expert in the field of facial expressions and emotions. Included is good feature on the subject. I ordered his latest book: Emotions Revealed, Second Edition: Recognizing Faces and Feelings to Improve Communication and Emotional Life. Next is Fringe does have a basis on today's research although some may think it is to far out. 'Sanctuary' is IMHO is more fantasy than scifi so it took me a few episodes to get into it. Amanda Tapping ( Stargate, Stargate Atlantis) is the best of the show. I've been following the statistically abnormality in the number (over 80 and countinh) of deaths and disappearances in recent years of the very top researchers in microbiologists specializing in viruses and genetic engineering. And it isn't like they are a dime a dozen, there just isn't that many of them in the world. One would have believe that some were involved in the creation something that somebody doesn't want known. One reported that he would be murdered after he proved the source of the UK anthrax out break, an other was found in the trunk of his car, on and on. Just one report and its links, or want more just google 'microbiologists+deaths'. | | | We don't need stinkin' IMDB's errors, we make our own. Ineptocracy, You got to love it. | Posted: | | | | The last time I tried to watch a TV series actually on TV was in 2005. I started to watch the re-run of Alias on a Belgian TV channel. After 3 weeks I started having problems following the plot. Two weeks later, I discovered the channel had switched to airing 2 episodes a week in stead of just 1 like they started. This annoyed the hell out of me, and I decided if I wanted to watch a series, I would just buy it.
Some of the more recent shows I liked.

| Posted: | | | | I've been laid off from work for the entire September and will have a job again on October 1st. So a lot of time to watch DVDs. In this time I watched four seasons of Bones without having ever seen a single episode before. I watched two seasons of Supernatural (3+4), one season Alias (2), one season 24 (7) and this weekend I watched (currently I am at 2x08) two seasons of True Blood. I am a great fan of TV series and I love to watch them in one row. I watched ten years of Friends in 14 days. I especially like the pilots because they set everything in motion which is also the reason why I am currently doing a pilot marathon. Richierich is doing one as well. | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online

| Posted: | | | | I just finished season 1 on Burn Notice, which I bought on a friend's recommendation and loved it.
I loathe watching TV episodes on TV now as the adverts drive me crazy! I have become so used to watching without on DVD (and also getting all the episodes together instead of having to wait a week for each) that I find it frustrating otherwise. So much so that my foks and I stopped watching Legend of the Seeker on TV and decided to wait for the DVD release! Others that I have tried or am about to try untested are: Sanctuary Fringe - just received this one so will watch this week! Medium -now watched all available seasons Supernatural - waiting for season 4 Brothers & Sisters - awaiting season 3 Farscape - have watched all these twice Ghost Whisperer - now awaiting season 4 NCIS - just finished season 6 Numb3rs - awaiting season 5's release Spooks - awaiting season 7's release Sliders - awaiting any further releases Stargate SG-1 - bought season 1 and loved it so much I bought the next 3 which were all that were available at the time! I have since watched all these at least twice and this includes Atlantis too.
I also want to try Life which was recommended by a friend. | | | <---------Mithrandir, Laverne and Shirley Caroline |

Good question - I try: A mixture of "Psych" and "CSI" I think. Humour, crime solving and suspense. I have the 1st season since friday and I'm pretty sure that I'll finish all episodes until the end of the week! Maybe these customer reviews are helpful! | | | Thorsten |

Maybe these customer reviews are helpful! Thanks Kahless! I may still get it but not right now as I have a whole lot on order and quite a lot of new stuff received recently still to watch! | | | <---------Mithrandir, Laverne and Shirley Caroline |

| Posted: | | | | To watch shows on DVD and en bloc also makes it easier to spot internal references that are easily overlooked if you watch a show on a weekly basis (who can remember all the details of an episode from four weeks ago if they aren't summarized in a "The Road So Far"?). | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online

Life is definitely worth the watch - Damian Lewis is a lot of fun and the ongoing story adds a nice element to the police show format.
Mentalist is definitely worth a watch also - I plan to pick up the First Season tomorrow here in the US and watch the new season when it starts. It's a nice show and Kahless described it well in his answer.

| Posted: | | | | I have been watching:
Life Season 2 (catching up on episodes I missed last year) Dollhouse (eagerly awaiting the season premiere Friday in US) Tru Calling (2 episodes left - I'm bummed the show was canceled - even though it happened 5 years ago!)
I just picked up Fringe on Blu-ray and hope to get started soon.

| Posted: | | | | I never really got into Stargate SG:1 until season 10 because I hate jumping into a series somewhere in the middle and season 10 was pretty much a new plot with mostly new cast.
I picked up season 1 over six months ago to check it out sometime and then one day a month ago I got bored enough to start it.
After I finished season 1, I went out and bought the entire collection and have since been marathoning through it and am averaging a disc a day. |

One of the reasons I buy TV series is that I like to watch the complete season with a minimum of interruptions. I've started collecting TV series as well this past year, and I've really noticed the minimum commercial breaks for HoneyMooners (mid 1950's) to Columbo (early 1970's ) both running at 25 minutes per half hour. or 5 minutes of Ads., Then onto Everyone Loves Raymond ( late 1990's) still at 24 min per half hour . Then Boston Legal (mid 2000's) is now at 21 min per half hour . Is this what the writers strike provided? an extra three/four min of ad time to pay for their salaries? , must be. Sorry for the Rant, but Yes todays DVD TV series with no ads are the best way to enjoy television.. | | | In the 60's, People took Acid to make the world Weird.
