This month will see the anniversary date of 10 years with Invelos (after 4 years for me with Intervocative). I take advantage of the event to give a score to the 10 most important points about my experience with DVDProfiler.

- 10/10 The plugins and tools developpers, who produced great tools to help to manage our collections.

- 9/10 The program, with all its local customization possibilities. Though it could be improved on some points, it is quite perfect to manage a collection of movies, provided however of entering consistent data.

- 9/10 Ken's reactivity during beta testing phases. Major bugs are generally quickly solved and beta programs can be rapidly used as main program (this is already the case for me with 9.5)

- 8/10 People sharing their headshots collections. The only grey point is about the impossibility to decide about a fake BY system allowing to share different actors with same name.

- 7/10 People who share their developments to help the use of the program (reports, layouts, translations...). Most are original and useful but some are just minor modifications of others' work.

- 4/10 The general atmosphere of the forum. We have many users who are always ready to help others and give useful advices, but also too many  unable to accept different opinions than their's. Not speaking of a few ones full of hatred, who treat others of nazis and/or play with their blocking lists. I love to see interesting feature requests in order to improve the program, and dislike the posts of users who do all they can to avoid any useful change. Bad faith in General Discussion Forum is also very annoying (I remember a very sad episode about a dramatic judicial case where heartless people said it was political to try to close the discussion).

- 2/10 Ken's presence on forum when a quick decision should be taken.

- 2/10 No mobile application for Windows phone. The Restifier plugin can be used but has many bugs and is no more maintained.

- 1/10 The online collection of data. Correct for cover scans and minor fields that are easy to fill, it is an incredible mess with most important fields (cast-crew) because thousands of actors/crew members have different unlinking names, and because obvious errors are blindly recopied. Totally impossible to use as a database, though the program is designed to work with a database.

- 0/10 Contribution rules. I never understood why Ken decided a "copy exactly as in credits/covers" philosophy that makes the database functions of the program (sorting, linking, filtering) totally unusable.

9 years 11 half months for me .. and four before that ..

I distinctly remember (BTW)  that when I first joined in 2003 -I thought of using a Buddy Hackett avatar .. because of his line in IAMMMMworld when Hackett was trying to figure out what the W  meant 'said Walnuts !  in Bags .. lol  ... so first few days I had my Hackett picture up with  In bags  below that ..

well when I got accepted by Intervocative  "front row"  regulars . .I distinctly remember that Skip
(member Skip? ),  remarked in print .. "  if he has a Buddy Hackett avatar ' he must be okay .." ..
LOL
....always remembered that .,, But changed my avatar later to Marilyn Monroe.. and then a few years back changed it again to its current ......

Invelos is by far my best and most active program on my PC ...  Congratulations 'to us all'  for being here this long ...

According the thread DJ quoted I am already here over 16 years and 9 months

Wow, it sure has been a long time...  I remember when I found DVD Profiler it was still at version 0.9 or so! Many people have come and gone in those years, some even returned back after a while.

And dvds are 20 years old now.

Where did the time go?

I can still remember buying my first DVD player. It was a Pioneer laserdisc/DVD combo player. Cost over $1,000.
Dvds were about $20 each.

Now a blu-ray player is under $100 and dvds can be bought for $1.00 at Dollar Tree.
