Does the fact that you have 824 collection numbers factor into your definition? My purchase yesterday put my collection number at 747 (flying high!) But it's also a little misleading as I only have a collection number for actual purchases - for example, the complete SG:1 boxset with all 10 seasons only gets a single number. |

| Posted: | | | | Now if I have over 2000 dvds (some dubs, few dozen customs, most real) and about 80-100 unwatched, am I in hoarding town or just at the city line? If I'm not in town, I can see it clearly from where I am. |

| Posted: | | | | Hello, my name is Dave and I am a hoarder...nothing leaves the home, if you want to see the movie pull up a seat. I am also unable to part with the "bad" ones, good, bad or indifferent it is part of the "family". I have approx. 30 unwatched at the moment.

But whether I'm a hoarder or not depends on how you define "hoarder". One definition that I have seen is " a person who accumulates things and hides them away for future use". I don't buy movies for future use. I want to see them right away. I just buy them faster than I have time to watch them. If that isn't hoarding, it's probably just as crazy. But who cares? I'm quite happy to have a collection of 4000+ with about 20% unwatched. At least I know what I'll do when I retire... | | | My freeware tools for DVD Profiler users. Gunnar |

i have over 1000 unwatched... which is the majority of my collection... thing is i've seen probably 95% of the shows/films - and want to own them... life just doesn't give me enough time to watch them as much as i would like
Hey, I thought I was the only one. 1,374 unwatched, but only 568 never seen. You're certainly not alone... 1005 movie DVDs owned, 546 unwatched, 285 never seen 936 seasons of TV, 505 unwatched, 377 never seen Sooo... over half my collection is unwatched and over a third of what I own are unwatched 'blind buys' and I have never even seen them on TV or at the cinema... Oh, and I forgot to mention 35 movies and 22 TV seasons/DVDs are on my "To be sold because I've double dipped for a better version" list but I just haven't got around to it Quote: I'm holding off on buying anymore until I get that never seen number under 100. No, sorry, that really is madness I keep on thinking "maybe I should slow down a bit until the numbers start reducing" as I really do have plenty to watch that I know is excellent (I'm looking at you season 3 of the Sheild onwards for a start!) and also surely I must have most of what I want by now... but no, still well over 1000 in my Wish List and I'm still buying faster than I'm watching | | | It is dangerous to be right in matters where established men are wrong | | | Last edited: by Voltaire53 |

| Posted: | | | | I would likely have come up with different numbers for those statistics, but in general that was nicely said.
[Insert Movie] comes out, and you just can't resist buying it, possibly because you found it cheap. After buying it, though, it goes right into the stack of movies you felt the exact same way about when you saw and purchased them yet also still haven't gotten around to watching.
My unwatched pile (movies only.... there are others I haven't watched all of the special features like I want to) is currently 10 movies (but I saw all of them previously at some point), which isn't that bad given I may not watch anything for 2 or 3 months while other times I may watch 3 or 4 movies in a week (but rarely more than that). Yet I will likely only buy 2 or 3 DVDs all of this year. | | | If at first you don't succeed, skydiving isn't for you.

| Posted: | | | | Apologies for posting late in the day, but I don't visit the forums very often. Nice to see many others who are far more extreme than myself! I have a slightly different take on the whole 'unwatched pile' issue, which seems to have naturally evolved over the last few years. I'm pretty much about a year ahead of myself when it comes to unwatched DVDs. Everything I'm currently viewing was bought sometime in 2010, and that pile will be exhausted sometime in December. Then at the start of next year, I'll begin watching stuff bought this year, and so on and so forth. I suppose you could argue that if I were to stop buying DVDs for an entire calendar year, I'd be bang up-to-date with things, but just think how large my Wish List would be!!! Current unwatched pile of titles bought in 2010 = 129 Current unwatched pile of titles bought this year = 78 |

| Posted: | | | | I could be considered a hoarder I guess. I have seen most of my collection in thearters, TV, Netflix. If I like the film I'll buy the dvd for future viewing. I can say I've seen about 95% of my collection. |

| Posted: | | | | You can probably call me a lot of things. 1814 DVD's (2156 titles) - unwatched: 1002 Included in those 2156 titles are 364 TV Series of which 269 unwatched. My biggest mistake was, when I first started collecting, I hardly had the time to watch movies. I have increased the viewing rate in the last 3 to 4 years, but I can't seem to catch up. Too many interesting movies to buy | | | View my collection at http://www.chriskepolis.be/home/dvd.htm

| Posted: | | | | I'm trying to recover. I got my unwatched stack down to 60 or so, but then library blu's kept coming in. I was close to catching up before, but Hollywood had a going out of biz sale. History repeats, I'm closing in on killing the unwatched stack, and 1 of the 2 remaining Blockbusters is going down and they have stuff I can't pass for under $4 (well under $3 by now, Sunday is last day and I'm heading over there in a few minutes ). I know I have a problem though, I gave Captivity another try despite hating it the first 2 times, just couldn't pass on the unrated dvd for $2 at Wal-Mart. Unrated slightly better, but still a mess of a film. |
