But with fake BYs you already have two different BYs in your local DB and I'm not sure I can detect that.

Oh, ok. Forget it then. Changes from no (or fake) BY to real ones are found without problems. So I just assumed fake -> fake would work, too. I just keep fixing what I stumble across. Usually they are completly unknown people anyway.

BTW - the CheckForDuplicates tool always makes me wanna edit the imdb more than my local files :

http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1843685/reference

What a stupid entry! Problem is that there really is a guy with that name and birthyear and I happen to have that 1972 TV movie on a 50 movie collection in my DVDP. I'm not sure how CCE2 reacts if a 'real' BY is removed from the imdb. So I'd maybe have to keep a local workaround even if such a crappy entry in the imdb is fixed.

I've edited this a lot while I tried to find out more what exactly happened. So don't wonder if you already read this and it has completly changed:

I had Matthew Gray (fake BY 31557) & Matthew Gray Gubler (1980) in my collection.

CCE2 told me M.G.'s common name has changed to Matthew Gray Gubler but it didn't. To make a long story short, it probably was an url change on imdb between two different people not a name change or sites merged. Also nothing seems to have been the 'fault' of CCE2.

Probably pages on the imdb were reorganized while somebody fixed some errors on the pages or whatever. MGG probably got the URL of MG, MG got a new one and CCE2 was really confused. At least that is the only way I could explain what happened.

Sad thing is that this maybe happens more often lately. In the last weeks I had a few really unusual name changes. Barbara Miller to Peter Smith or something like that. But alwas with people I didn't knew and were credited once or twice. This actor from Criminial Minds I actually knew and had a picture atttached. That is the reason I realized something was going wrong. So I guess the best thing to do is to check the actual imdb pages if a changed name is suspicious and in doubt parse everything with the people involved again getting all BYs again also.

Y'all probably think I'm crazy but I'm 99,99% sure imdb ist changing URLs. Seemingly random or at least for no obvious reasons. So be careful!

For example I've just got the CCE2 warning for identical name & BY regarding Pete Townshend. His name is Unique on the imdb.  I doubt any merging could have been the reason for a changed URL. He is so famous that it seems very unlikely he had split pages.

PS: the change was from nm0870228 to nm0870175

I was able to use this plug in fine last night with no problem.  This morning, I first got a 503 error whenever I tried grabbing headshots.  After that was a 500 error.  Now, after rebooting my computer and simply trying to search for a movie I get the following:

D'oh!
We're sorry, something went wrong.

Please try again...wait...wait...yep, try reload/refresh now.

But if you are seeing this again, please report it here.

Please explain which page you were at and where on it that you clicked

Thank you!

I went so far as to try using the software on a separate computer and still received the above "D'oh" message.  Anyone know what's going on here?

Cancel that.  It appears to be ok now.

The Simpson's D'oh! sounded like somtehing that could have come from me, but I searched the code and didn't find anything.

So my guess is that IMDb itself had a sort of hiccup.

IMDb was down for maintenance for a while. Not sure how long it was.

Sorry to bother again but at some point in the past CCE2 started to parse german episode names. I guess it's the imdb's 'fault'. It's easy to fix that in a browser but I have no idea if there is a way to parse original names in CCE2 again. Even if I log into imdb with my account from within CCE2 it doesn't work.

Found a solution.

Have to think about how to integrate into UI.

Have to go to bed.

Little sneak preview for the next version:

I've build a scanner that scans your local cast and crew file and checks if IMDb has merged two actors that are considered different in your database.

But fair warning: This will take a while. My 90,000 cast members took 13 hours to scan. This is due to the fact that for each actor IMDb has to be called and checked if they re-route the URL to a different IMDb-ID.

The result will look something like this (this is test data taken from my own collection):

Looks great! Can't await it, thanks! But can you pause it? I guess I won't do the crew if it takes so long and can't be paused.
