This situation has been cropping up since the intervocative days and the powers that be have never stepped in and clarified the situation.

So, it has been left to the community to contribute this data based on how they read the rules, the numerous discussions, past practice etc.

The result has been that the vast majority of contributors and contributions are entered and accepted into the online database utilizing the colon as a separation indicator.

For example, in your collection there are titles that include a colon such as Beverly Hills Cop: The Complete Lineup.

I am discussing the online database since the colon has been added, entered, voted on and accepted into the online database.

This is the reason I previously suggested each person take a look at their local database. This is especially important for those who do not believe a colon is correct.

There are also titles in my collection that contain dashes, commas or no separators at all but these variations and their respective numbers are irrelevant since they belong to different releases. This is not a case of the most numbers win and whatever we decide here can't be based on empirical statistics, it should be based on first looking at the cover and then reading the rules and apply them to the situation at hand. In this case I don't think it's even that difficult as some make it out to be. But of course we just love to argue, don't we? The smaller the issue, the greater the argument it seems.

Let's make it really confusing

Official Site, Amazon  "Oz The Great and Powerful"
Rotten Tomatoes, IMDB, Wiki, Apple  "Oz the Great and Powerful"
Bluray.com  "Oz: The Great and powerful"

These are a few examples,  apparently there isn't a consensus anywhere.

It's easy to blame the 'powers that be', but they aren't the ones who are to blame.  This situation was caused by the people who prefered to use the colon for sub-titles regardless of what the rules said.  Yes, this issue was brought up before, but Ken chose not to amend the rules.  At that point, all those people who prefered the colon should have kept that preference local, the problem is they didn't.

I know that my opinion won't change anything.  The people that want to use the colon will continue to use the colon, voters that prefer the colon will continue to vote yes and the screeners will continue to approve them.

KinoNiki - I do a lot of contributing and I want to do so to the best of my ability. I discuss aspects of issues - especially ones that are not clear cut - because that is how I learn to make better decisions.

It is not because I "just love to argue". Since I will continue to do so, I suggest that you block my forum posts in addition to the block you have on my pms.

TheMadMartian - I'm afraid I disagree with you - Ken and invelos are very much to blame. This issue, and others, are easily solved with minimal effort on their part.

Even when they do weigh in, such as in Anamorphic on Blu-ray/DVD Combo Sets thread and offer multiple solutions for feedback, they then refuse to resolve the problem and make a final decision.

Their product is sustained and improved in part with the contributions made by the users of this program.

It is not good business practice to ignore issues raised by that community for 6 or 7 years.

The lack of feedback, as demonstrated by this thread as well as others, only leads to the more problems.

This issue needs clarification as the voting demonstrates.

It's not a matter of clarification, it's a matter of priority.  It obviously doesn't bother Ken that titles are entered inconsistently, and it apparently doesn't bother him that we argue about such matters.

Except there is no issue that needs to be solved, at least not by Ken.  This issue would go away if people simply followed the rules.

True.  Although I think the main concern was whether or not to use a colon in the title.  It appears Disney doesn't consider "The Great and Powerful" to be a subtitle in Invelos speak.

For English titles do not capitalize joining words such as "of", "the", "a", "in", etc. unless they are the first, last or only word of the title.

Guess I should have been more descriptive.  Disney doesn't use a colon in the title.
