Small but solid evidence of continuing moderation at least at that level. To an extent, but there is still a lot of leftover spam, some of which I know I rated negatively, so it may be automated and is just dependent on getting so many negative votes. |

I can live with that, but ... I'd be more concerned if the iPad version stops working. I depend heavily on that for selecting movies to watch, and marking them watched. could you not just remote into the main app from your iPad - lots of paid or free services allow this, not as intuitive as a native app, but since the ios app is broken anyway.... | | | -JoN |

Yeah, I do remote into my PC using Splashtop sometimes. The drawback is that the Desktop Profiler isn't as convenient as the iOS app when it comes to selecting movies to watch. And remoting in without a real keyboard makes it even less convenient. If I had to forego the iOS app I would rather run a remote Profiler on my laptop. A bit clumsier than the iPad, but still OK. And btw, I don't consider the iOS app broken when run on the iPad. There are a few minor bugs, but nothing that bugs (!) me. | | | My freeware tools for DVD Profiler users. Gunnar |

Edit: I just checked the Splashtop site, and it seems that there is now "a nominal charge" for the iPad and iPhone apps. It was free when I got it. | | | My freeware tools for DVD Profiler users. | Posted: | | | | I'm grandfathered on the add-ons so they're free for me too but I use Splashtop pretty much daily to remote into my different PC's at home and out. The iPad app has gotten a lot better over the past few months. It's free for use for up to 5 PC's on one email account.
If your host PC is low powered or some apps don't render well in it, install the Mirror driver on the Advanced tab. It can help a wee bit. |

You mean you haven't already started?
Now would be a good time to make a plan, so you are not caught unprepared.
Has anyone found a suitable alternative yet? |

Has anyone found a suitable alternative yet? Depends on your requirements. For me the program will do until such day that Microsoft doesn't support 32bit programs anymore. | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online

Depends on your requirements. For me the program will do until such day that Microsoft doesn't support 32bit programs anymore. Don't get me wrong, I still enjoy the program almost as much as I did when I first bought it back in 2003 (if my memory is right). One big problem I have is that digital purchases aren't integrated properly into the software. Sure, I have added categories and even logos for iTunes but it still bugs me that I have to add and download a blu-ray profile and personalize it later in order to have it in my collection. Also, and this might be the biggest problem, I feel like the active community in gets smaller by the day. Many new dvds/blu rays aren't added to the database at all. Given that I collect many tv shows on iTunes, I cannot even add them to the database since those are not allowed for submission - and many of those tv shows thus never get fed to the common database. I thus have to work in private on all new profiles instead of making it a group effort like it once was. I'm most certainly not the only one seeing this as a problem. I feel like we need a few alterations to this software in order for it to be viable in the future. It would be nice to have an IMDB integration as well to download cast and crew. |

I have only use the database for the scans when one is better than mine (which won't happen any day soon since Katatonia doesn't contribute anymore).
Dead or not, I haven't find anything better for my collection... What happened to Katatonia? I haven't logged in for 3 years or so because of a new job, moving, starting a family etc but I'm saddened Katatonia no longer contributes | | | Never judge a movie by its sequel or remake |

But not today it seems. It would go against everything I believe to be the fundamental "good" of whoever is providing this resource, if it were to be taken away with no notice, or no explanation. But I do lament the strong chance that such an announcement of the end of DVDP as we know it, will come. If we are lucky, the rights to the database and technology will have been sold or transferred to another entity that can support the user base, or perhaps the server technology could be posted to GitHub and be made Open Source, so that some kind of substitute server could be developed and maintained by users. I see little chance that the iOS and Android apps would survive. But new apps could be developed that adhere to the server APIs. The windows desktop version is likely to run as long as those old Mercedes diesels. | | | Thanks for your support. Free Plugins available here. Advanced plugins available here. Hey, new product!!! My suspicion is that invelos.com is a ghost ship sailing through the night under its own power and systems running on auto. I think it'll keep going until whatever account the server hosting is drawing from expires. |
