Which one is the right guy, is subjective. But the member documenting the BY on first hand has the power to make this decision. For the less known composer speaks, that there are less BYs to contribute to clean up the mess. NO - this moving the BY from one guy to the other would cure nothing but set all existing BYs to be invalid - that's useless.

So, if Parker the director, which is more common in the DB has a BY, it would be "locked" to the right person. And this is the reason why we normally use a BY for a better known/more common cast or  crew member.

To get around the automatic correction, you do not need to have a title for each of them, but you need to have both of them in your cast/crew data base. Create the second one (without any profile) and you are safe. The only thing to keep in mind: don't clean up your cast/crew data base afterwards.

For all other cases, where there stands a BY against an unknown one, I use three entries:
- one for the person with the BY
- one for the other person with a dummy BY (as replacement for the unknown BY)
- and a dummy entry without a BY

When a new entry is added, it will be added either with the correct documented BY or without any BY. In the second case I have the choice to assign either the documented BY or the dummy BY to him. The DVDP automatics are cut off.
