Things are still going great on Movie Collector. The editing functions and the available movie database and cover database are great.

Have now moved past 34,000 discs

I'm in Canada and I tried Movie Collector a while back and found that at least 1:5 movies were missing from their database by barcode. Many Canadian releases have a unique barcode, separate from the US, but we long since lost a couple of our major contributors. I've personally added hundreds of Canadian UPCs to the DVD Profiler database and always have a stack going behind the computer that I need to add to the database.

The other thing with Movie Collector is that I found the way it did movie box sets to be a disaster. There was no way to really add child records or to search individual movies, which defeated my purpose of using the software to prevent duplicate purchases.

Does the XML export from DVD Profiler actually add entries to the Movie Collector DB?

Collector has a DVD Profiler import function and brings everything across.

The collection numbers have large gaps.

I dont know what are you telling me...
(Sorry I have a poor English)

The collection numbers are set up by category. Found out early that I needed to have more numbers available for movies, and then TV series. Why there's breaks in numbering. The count currently showing in my collection (32097) is currently correct.

>Are you sure that this is about the Profiler Limit?
Maybe a problem with Ram of Computer...
I dont know about the limit number of Profiler.
Sounds strange to me...

My IT tech tells me that after upgrading everything possible on the PC, including SS hard drive, that it is the way the database was created. Reached limit. Says that if it had been constructed with SQL, I wouldn't be having the problem .... over my pay-grade.

Disclaimer: Don't try this at home! You'd have to be nuts to do it

As discussed over on the tech support forum, I finally had to migrate to another database. I had been unable to add any more discs to Profiler ... got to the limit.

But, here we are .... been busy adding and still a ways to catch up.

New home is now Movie Collector.

Have to say, looks pretty nice. Never realized the 32000 DVD limit of Profiler. Is that what you are saying?

Gave up on me around 31,300. Just wouldn't let add discs or even refresh updated profiles.
The Movie Collector database is unreal .....

Well, after 14 years and 31,00 discs, I had to give up on Profiler. Just out-grew it, not being able to add any more to it.

I'm still working on it, but, I moved the collection over to Movie Collector. Surpassed the 32,000 disc level and it runs fine. Still a few bugs to fix, but it looks good!

- create a new clean database
- restore the seemingly corrupted database into the new empty one
- be joyous when, more often than not, your database comes back in (near) perfect form. Make a backup immediately.

Dogg .... thanks.
Tried this early on with no difference in running the program. Also tried setting it up clean on a different computer. No change.
My tech guy thinks the problem is in the program. He said that if it had been written in Sequel, I wouldn't be having the memory problems. My database is getting pretty large.

Well, it's not how the program is supposed to work, but, I'm now getting discs added. Back into the "diagnostic" mode. Uploading is still problematic, but, after 7 or 8 tries, I got an upload. But, only in the diagnostic mode. Will take quite a while to catch up.
A bit aggravating that there's no one to assist anymore .... support tickets are worthless.

Try the following:
- End DVD Profiler
- Press Win+R -> The Run command appears
- Type %localappdata% and press OK -> A windows explorer opens
- Navigate to the DVD Profiler folder
- Find a file called OnlineList.dod and rename it to OnlineList.old
- Find a file called OnlineListSel.dod and rename it to OnlineListSel.old
- Start DVD Profiler again and retry

I've tried this, but I'm not seeing these. I found the dod files in the import file, under the profiler folder. the following is what's in the file:

OnlineList5127.dod_9
OnlineList5127.dod_8
OnlineList5127.dod_7
OnlineList5127.dod_6
OnlineList5127.dod_5
OnlineList5127.dod_4
OnlineList5127.dod_3
OnlineList5127.dod_2
OnlineList5127.dod_1
OnlineList5127.dod_0
OnlineList5127.dod
OnlineList5126.dod_9
OnlineList5126.dod_8
OnlineList5126.dod_7
OnlineList5126.dod_6
OnlineList5126.dod_5
OnlineList5126.dod_4
OnlineList5126.dod_3
OnlineList5126.dod_2
OnlineList5126.dod_1
OnlineList5126.dod_0
OnlineList5126.dod

Which one to change? and there is no OnlineListSel.dod file.  Problematic!
Thanks,
Gene

Have you tried to completely refreshing the online profile list (hold the Ctrl key while clicking on Refresh Online Profile List)?

Didn't do anything different ..... same results.
Thanks,

Gene

I've tried everything I can think of, but, now can't add any discs. It gets up to #10 in loading the profile list and stops with the error message:

Error
An error has occurred processing this file.
If you continue to receive this error, please try performing a database repair.

I've run basic and full repairs with no improvement.

When I click on the OK button, I get another error:  Out of Memory

click OK out of that and it goes back to trying to load the profile list again.

I was using a work-around before by opening the program in diagnostic mode after having to close the program on start-up. Anyone know how to get there from the program?

Any other thoughts on what to do?

>>Have you considered that if you watch two a day, it'll still take you 41 years to get through it all!? <<

Guess one of these days I'll have to crank it up to 7 or 8 a day!

Told wife that when I'm old, and sitting in the rocker and drooling, to just keep feeding them in the player.

Well, found another source to take all my money. Been adding a lot of titles and filling in TV series.
Have blown past 30,000 now and still building fast.

See you'all in the poor-house!
