20 years? Those are Rookie numbers!

First two DVDs on 31st July 1998, "The Crow" and "Dune", both imported from the USA and played on my Creative Encore PC-DVD DXR2

open Filter windows with Ctrl-F

and switch from "Starts With" to "Contains". IIRC this also affects the search field in the toolbar.

Sammlungsliste: Alle (1.887), Besitz (1.887) wird angezeigt. Laufende Cover-Nummerierung zeigt #1888.

Because of these differences  we need (IMO) 4 profiles for Nordic releases.

I concur!
Yes, it isn't ideal to have a lot of the data 4 times in the database, thus updates to to e.g. actors would have to be made 4 times. There might(!) have been a time where the whole data-structure could/should have been changed, e.g. by tying a part of the information like Actors to the Disc-ID while Ratings go to the UPC/Locality. But this would most likely just brought on different problems and, lets be perfectly honest to ourselves, now it simply will not happen.

I really apreceate Calibre for my books, no matter which format.

Aye! I even started using Calibre for Audiobooks[1] and a little backlog of paper-books. And inevitably I started using the XML-export for a "last read" list

[1] I create a new profile for them and assign an empty MP3 respectively TXT file to it so I have the format.

The automatic number e. g. is 6132 so -1 it is 6131 but still a number.

Du sollst eintippen, nicht subtrahieren!

Or does "-1" simply say "delete"?

Not only delete, but it checks the 'None' field you see besides the Collection-Number field in DVD Profiler.

possible work-around:
Use the Bulk Edit Plugin
Flag the profiles in question, open them in BE, assign collection number -1, done.

Yeah, least common denominator.

My very own, private opinion: with the exception of bonus discs. Way back this queation came up about a specific scenario where the movies in a set all had at least R1 & R2 and a bonus disc with only R1. I'd hated the idea to skip such a set because it seems only to be R1 when it is just the bonus disc that would pose a problem.

It is already there, at least in US-locality.

As to the general question of whether it should be contributed or not, lets get philosophical:
Is it a CD with a DVD attached, or a DVD with a CD attached?

The title will certainly stay in my database, no matter what.

unfortunately i doubt any changes will be made with any haste. DVD P is almost legacy software at this point

We are legacy also. Buying physical media is so out of date.

Hiho, hiho, off to the retirement homes we go.

No such luck. First error/warning stays the same, just with 'mysqli.php'

new error:
Quote:
Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /kunden/dvd-welt.de/webseiten/privat/dvdliste/mysqli.php:14) in /kunden/dvd-welt.de/webseiten/privat/dvdliste/index.php on line 1422

So progress, just not enough

I don't even know if it is possible to access the old contribution notes.

They are accessible, e.g.
  • new: http://www.invelos.com/Forums.aspx?task=contributionnotes&type=DVD&ProfileUPC=025192018626

  • old: http://legacy.intervocative.com/Forums.aspx?task=contributionnotes&type=DVD&ProfileUPC=2519201862

  • First and last digits of the ID are omitted in the old-style for 12 digit UPCs

    or
  • new: http://www.invelos.com/Forums.aspx?task=contributionnotes&type=DVD&ProfileUPC=4030521290778.5

  • old: http://legacy.intervocative.com/Forums.aspx?task=contributionnotes&type=DVD&ProfileUPC=030521290778.5

  • First digit is omitted in 13 digit EANs

1.78 because 1.77 is simply wrong math.

    16 divided by 9 =
      _
    1.7
    (see here)

So either you write it with an infinite number of sevens, or you round to the desired numbers of decimals, in which case you round up to 8, so 1.78 it is.

    PHP7 compability?
My webprovider has announced that they will shut down PHP 4 and 5 in the foreseeable future. Simply switching to v7 didn't seem to work (see below). Does anyone have this on the radar?
The change to MySQL 5 (3 and 4 will also be shut down for legacy reason) worked quite well, but my hopes that it would be the same with PHP were shattered.

    Error with v7:
    Quote:
Deprecated: Methods with the same name as their class will not be constructors in a future version of PHP; sql_db has a deprecated constructor in $myserverpath/mysql.php on line 14

    Fatal error: Uncaught Error: Call to undefined function mysql_connect() in $myserverpath/mysql.php:40 Stack trace: #0 $myserverpath/global.php(691): sql_db->sql_db('mysql5.dvd-welt...', 'db48464_1', '$password', 'db48464_1', '', false, false, true) #1 $myserverpath/index.php(6): include_once('/kunden/dvd-wel...') #2 {main} thrown in $myserverpath/mysql.php on line 40

$myserverpath & $password are placeholder inserted by me

Current working version is 5.6.34 stable, neither 7.0.24 legacy nor 7.2.3 stable worked (available PHP versions)

It's a bit surprising that they had to modify the program for each new release of Profiler.

Might be that new strings confuses the program. E.g. phpDVDProfiler doesn't like the new 3D-Audio-formats coz it tries to assign the matching symbols.

    1) Establish the exact structure of the 3.6 export file.

I still have a 3.6 XML example lying around, that shouldn't be a problem. In the end it will be a process to find out what breaks the camels back.

That might be possible by downloading it via the Wayback Machine

Unfortunately DMX-3000 is no longer supported and it does not work with any DVD Profiler version after Version 3.6.

Define "works with". Does it use the XML-Output? If yes, what part of it?
It may be easier to write an XSLT to convert back to the output of v3.6 than use the old program.

WARNING: Proceed with caution and it is absolutely vital that you do create a backup beforehand!

    From the long gone Profiler-Knowledge-DB
    ---START---
A "Collection Category" is a user-defined tab, similar to the built-in "Owned", "Ordered" and "Wishlist" tabs.

To add such a tab just go to Tools - Edit Collection Categories, now Add enter a name, e.g. "TV-Series" a logo.

    Category-specific options:
    * Collection Number: whether profiles in this Category should have Collection Numbers or not
    * Purchase Data: if you don't want to enter any Purchase Data leave this option blank, but be aware that you might lose information if you move profile with such data into this Category.
    * Include contents in owned collection: you can decide if you want profiles in this category to be also shown in your owned collection. At the moment profiles of Collection Categories are not uploaded to the Invelos Online List, if you want all your titles shown you must check this option.
    * Sorting: you can sort the Collection Categories, but they will always be arranged after the 3 built-in categories. To work around this you could move all profiles to self-defined Collection Categories and hide the 3 built-ins.

    Global options:
    * Hide built-in categories: if you don't need one of the three default-categories you can switch them off
    * Collection numbers: tells DVD Profiler if collection numbers should be unique for all categories or just inside one category.
    --END--

I was wondering if here is a way to print collection with barcode.

    Very old thread about it

Short answer: problem is getting an asterisks at both ends of the UPC/EAN which seems impossible in the report-engine of DVDP.

Update: just found this newer thread, and that looks promising, although I never tested this.

Go to the Report-Download, search 'barcode' and get "Simple Barcode 20" and change that to your liking.

Not sure why, but I can't get the front covers to stay for iTunes movies so have a lot of profiles with missing covers...

Missing covers locally or in the Invelos onlinelist? The latter does not use your covers but the ones from the contributed profile. So no contributed profile, no cover.

Locally it is a matter of locking. For my 'Streaming' category I use the best fitting BD-profile available and lock down everything. Never lost a cover. (I modify the ratio to a fix 500x600 for aesthetics) [1]

And yeah, Netflix movies that do not have any DVD/BD release are a pain for me, so I just look for a nice cover, get cast&crew from IMDB with CastCrewEdit2 by DJDoena (Thanks!) and be done with it.

It is a list just to see when I did watch certain movies respectively movie I want to see in the future so no need to go overbord.

[1] To watch-list and recently seen done witch XSLtransformation of the XML-export.
