Films like Titanic / Birth of A Nation / Raging Bull /The Right Stuff /Apollo 13 /Schindlers List /The Great Escape and a whole lot of other war movies based on fact / westerns based on fact/ criime dramas based on fact i.e. Helter Skelter - In Cold Blood -Boston Strangler.. etcetra .... I vote for DOCUDRAMA to be used instead of True Story or Historic.. Isn't a docudrama already a specific type of film, though? Its a documentary filmed with parts of it presented in dramatic recreation which is supposed to be accurate in detail. You see this type on the History Channel and Discovery quite frequently. For example, I recently saw one on the 300 Spartans at Thermopylae. It was narrated in documentary fashion with dramatic battle recreations playing as a backdrop to the narration. That is as opposed to an historical drama, such as 'The Blue and the Gray' which was historically accurate in that it portrayed how the Civil War tore families apart, but it was fictionalized dramatically. | | | John

Exactly !! .,., that is why I think the term Docudrama is the perfect name, it is already used in areas as you describe.

Tlevel's suggestion of local genres, reminded me of a feature idea I posted ages ago. I'd like to see the genre list kept to a minimum, but then have an open text field for local keywords. Then you can enter, and search on, whatever you like. MattyJames suggested 'Zombie', which I don't think should be a separate genre, but he would be able to enter it as a local keyword. Same goes for 'War'; you could locally add 'Vietnam', 'WWII', etc. | | | Jon
