Hi folks,

I've just upgraded from 2.4.0 free to 3.0.2 full.

And discover there is no more CSV export!!!

I need this back -- or a command-line workaround.

My workflow with 2.x was as follows:
- export the data to CSV
- the CSV is a linked (this is crucial) table in an Access database
- a tool is used to convert the Access database to MobileDB format
- I then upload the MobileDB file to my Palm T|X
- I now have the data viewable in MobileDB on the Palm so that I know what DVDs I already own when shopping...

Now that CSV is no longer there, I have tried importing the XML into Access 2003 but this yields a zillion conversion errors.

I'm looking for a command-line / scriptable way to convert the XML export to CSV...

(Note: I don't need all the fields!!!)

TIA

I don't think there's a command line workaround, but it's easy to use Excel to import the XML and then sava that as a CSV.

Or, you could hunt down a post by Mithi and look at his signature. He's been tinkering with XSLT and there's a ready-made XSLT that will give you a CSV export generated from the Profiler 3.0 XML

See signature, get the archive and have a look at csv.xsl
But you REALLY should have a look around if there isn't a way without the intermediate step Access.

Thx pals,

The csv.xsl was indeed THE point to start from.

I've modified it to suit my taste (list of fields) and requirements (double quotes around fields, comma instead of semi-colon as separator).

I haven't restored the exact same behavior I had with 2.x, but I'm pretty close.

Best regards and thx again.

Max,
I'm not a "specialist", I use the .csv to transfer with prgm SMARTLIST my database to my PALM. I have only XL 2000, I don't know Access, so I 'm "lost".
So if you know an easy way to recover a .CSV, I will appreciate.
Best regards.
