I was so excited when the announcement came out that “Land of the Giants” was finally being released to DVD…until I saw the price at Amazon.com . I loved this show as a kid, but as an adult, I just don’t think I can fork over that kind of money for a two season set and respect myself in the morning .

If you get series and still want to respect yourself - think of it costing "only" $19 a disc!

Dang...I think I'll wait around and hope for a cheaper version without all the extra crap!  Based on FOX pricing, that's got to be about $100 worth of junk that I don't even want.  I suppose the goal is to make the set profitable across the few hundred people that will pay that price.  Ouch!

Actually, since the production costs for the show were so astronimical for the times, I think the studio is trying to recoop the cost at the expense of the gullible consumer......me .

That does seem a tad high for a 9 disc set.  I, too, loved ths show when I was younger but I can't justify paying that much for it now.
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.
The Centauri learned this lesson once.
We will teach it to them again.
Though it take a thousand years, we will be free.

I didn't check but does the set include vaseline?  You know...for when they...um.  Well, you know.

I think FOX is going out of their way to challenge folks to bootleg.  I mean there's really no excuse for that price.

Tell me about it. They don't even give you a reach-around when they're through...sorry SOBs. This is by far the most over-priced DVD release I've ever seen. The complete Star Trek: TNG was expensive at $696.00 but this puts TNG to shame. I'm sure it'll be a collectable one day...as in collecting dust for lack of sales...lol.

Wow, sounds like a really nice box.

I should be able to save at least $50 if I can scam a non-boxed version.

I hear ya, the box is cool.  Unfortunately, my wife has input on shelf usage.  Anymore, minimizing the storage footprint is king.
