On careful examination I am starting to find a large number of inaccuracies in titles I've imported from my backup

They're not obvious but, comparing back with 2.5 for the Crew list I get the occasional crew member that seems to have changed. Sometimes it's to the Crew member above him and sometimes it's to the last Actor in the Cast list.

For example I had Tom Cruise as Director and Writer of Young Guns.

Obviously this isn't true for everyone since that particular profile is online already and correct so I could fix mine but a less obvious one was where Dudley Simpson (the composer) was then also credited also in Special Sound instead of Brian Hodgson on Doctor Who: Seeds of Death

Please beware in case this happens to you too!

Additional... it's dropping some crew too - and I know it dropped exactly the same two crew for somone else as they submitted the profile which is incorrect and the same as mine before I fixed it. Looks like there's a bug in the import method from backup if it affects two users exactly the same way.

Interesting side effect is locally Sound is under Sound, Music people under Music etc but online all the headings after Film Editing (which is missing) are one out so Art is the heading for the Sound people, Sound for Music etc.

Further update:

It's a recurring bug affecting the same crew the same way.

Eg. Robert Holmes : Writer

on various Doctor Who serials is ALWAYS corrupted to:

Robert Holmes : Original Material By

similarly Philip Hinchcliffe is always replaced and is not in the database etc.

Bob Baker and Dave Martin as Writers are always replaced by whoever is listed as the Director (whether or not that's an error too!)

To add what I've noticed, the ones I've looked at always have a cinematography divider with no cinematography credit. A database repair doesn't fix it, but if you add a cinematography credit in, then the rest are in the correct place.

It also seems to fix the credit error i.e. Robert Holmes is again credited as the writer.

An example UPC is 5014503103323

Nice one; looks like DVDP looking for a Cinematography Credit and not finding one is the source of the error then... hopefully there will be a fix along rapidly now this is known.

Bumping this up as I see it as one of the major errors with 3.0.0 (because lots of the profile uploads will be inaccurate) that really needs fixinf ASAP while people can still restore from a 2.5 backup without messing up loads of their new data ... and I don't think it's just Cinematography

2000AD
R2 UK : EAN 5-032438-504787

Crew: 2 directors, 4 writers, 3 producers, 3 exec producers, 7 others (including on in Cinematography section) ... every single one credited as Huang Wen Yong (who is actually the last person in the cast list)

Just checking further it seems to be the majority of profiles are affected:

From the top:

28 Days Later R2 UK (cast member Steen Young does everything)
3 DFays of the Condor R1 (cast member Bruce Monero directs and is all 3 writers)
Above the Law R1 (Andrew Davis and Steven Seagal share all the crew credits)
Abyss R2 (Mike Cameron directs, and writes, Gale Ann Hurd is both producers, Alan Silvestri both composers and sound etc.)

.. and that's not even past Ab alphabetically yet!

Can't see a problem with this one myself. Checking my online collection it shows correct cast and crew, refreshing it (no locks on) it still has the correct cast and crew. UPC is 5039036012348

Possible this one could be fixed by a database repair in 2.5. I should point out I imported from 2.4, no idea if that makes a difference.

(Yep, that's the EAN of mine too)

Well at least some look like they're just me then... not good for me but a great relief that most uploads will be correct and I can just correct my profiles from the updates when they occur.

Thanks for looking guys, I'll have a little check around and see if I can fix a few by re-importing!

Edit: Yep, looks like some of my imported database was incorrect adding to my confusion (it is also on Crew only) so a re-import of Specified Profiles only sorts out most of the errors... Phew!
