While not a program feature, I think it would be nice if there were one more "choice" on the voting page to "View Neutral Votes" along with the 2 existing "Alll pending updates" and "Unvoted pending updates"

My reasoning is that often times I will vote neutral on a profile that I am not able to determine without pulling the DVD off the shelf, and continue voting until I've cleared the queue of all unvoted updates. Then to go back through and find any I've voted neutral on, but want to check further, a lot of clicking is involved. Having a view neutral votes button would simplify that chore.

Wouldn't save much time than going to All Pending Updates and looking at how you had voted previously -- the neutral votes are easy to spot.
If it wasn't for bad taste, I wouldn't have no taste at all.

Cliff,

With the same argument you could say that "Unvoted pending updates" is unnecessary, because you can go through "All pending updates" and it's easy to see which ones you haven't voted on.

I like the idea. With a 3000+ collection I get quite a few updates. And I often do like Kevin, vote Neutral until I can check.

Actually, I would be even happier if there was a fourth alternative ("Delayed voting" or something similar) so I could tell those that I have to check from those where I really don't want to take a stand (because I can't check or am unsure of how to interpret the rules).

However, such an alternative would probably just confuse a lot of people, so I'm not seriously suggesting it.

It would be nice if neutral votes would be visible as well, as having many neutral votes might indicate that a contribution is controversial or unclear.
BTW: I would also like to be able to add notes to a Neutral vote. Sometimes it can be useful to be able to let others know why you're in doubt etc.

I don't understand - if you're not ready to vote, why not just go to the next title and leave the other in the pending list?
Although I do like the idea of being able to add notes in a neutral vote - though in that case, we would need an extra "skip" button for when you don't want to leave a note either!

I would appreciate this! I think there should be a difference between a neutral vote and undecided (=pending or not voted). "Neutral" should count as a vote equal to "Yes" or "No"!

This I understand, and use.

I thought the Neutral was used when you wouldn't cast a vote at all. If research is wanted prior to casting a vote, why cast a neutral vote & remove the profile from the unvoted cue?
If it wasn't for bad taste, I wouldn't have no taste at all.

Because every time you vote on something after the one you skipped, the skipped one comes up again rather than the next one that you want to vote for. And if you have a lot of titles to vote on, this becomes really annoying.

Tabbed browsing is a workaround for this. I usually open all the profiles I'm interested in looking at on tabs, before working my way through them.

Having said that I only choose to look at profiles from names I don't recognise or people I know submit bad data, so this may not be as practical if you look at all profiles.

Gunnar, I agree this is annoying.  If I don't look at the database for a few days, I can sometimes face a screen with about 15 "First letters" available for voting.  If I skip one of the "A" titles, then go on to B, I'm taken back to that skipped "A" title after I complete all the "Bs."  Same for "Cs" ... "Zs"  It really is a nuisance.

I like your "delayed voting" suggestion, although you are probably right about it creating more confusion than already exists.
