mine arrived from Amazon yesterday: 033654/103000.

as for the covers, "according to the rules" the database scan should be flat.

"Images must be of the front and back only. Do not include the spine in either the front or back image."

ooo, i get to quote the rules for a change...

i prefer the horizontal versions, which i believe i voted yes on for chris's contribution just moments ago.

excuse, there's  stray origami on my tv...

I prefer 3D images for custom cases like this.

So that's OK now? Way way back when I remember submitting some images for big custom cases taken with a camera and I got voted down bigtime because "that's not the standard."

That may be the rule, but the "spirit" of that rule is really geared towards standard DVD covers, not big custom cases that don't fit DVD packaging standards.

I just got mine, the case is still cold from being in the UPS truck. This is for the plain old DVD version 085391-144847 which is the same UPC on the Digipak on the inside of this case. On the bottom is a sticker designating Limited Edition 033700 / 103000. The case has a clear sleeve with the art work, the black square on the front and everything on the back.  Here is a scan I just made of the back.

...

Not sure if it's good enough for contribution purposes, my scans are usually not nearly as good as what many of you can produce.

I agree with others that the existing front scan in 3-d will be the image I keep there.

I'll be keeping the 3-D Front also.  You might try to get the security tag off the inside from behind the upc.  I tried and it worked out fine.

Thanks, that's exactly what I wanted to hear.

And to answer the second part of my question: the workprint version comes in both the briefcase edition and the 5-disc collector's edition. This is contrary to what was originally reported (the original press release talked about a 4-disc edition) but I spent some time in Future Shop today and can confirm that there is indeed a 5-disc edition with the workprint.

KM

I think there may have been some confusion, so it may not have been what you wanted to hear:

The stand-aline sets for HD-DVD and Blu Ray are 5-disc sets. However, the DVD set is only 4-disc. I have repeatedly checked and have not yet seen a 5-disc DVD set for sale.

I also would like to know as I will only receive mine early next year (shipping was estimated to arrive on 12/29, but I don#t think I'll get it that day).

My DVD set is 5 discs. And Yes, I have the workprint.
It is the Five-Disc Ultimate Collector's Edition boxset. (R2)

I have checked andi it looks like in R1 land you can only get the 5 disc set if you have the briefcase.

Time to upgrade to multi region?

Thanks for the clarification. I only checked the HD DVD version and assumed the DVD version would be the same. Odd that it's not.

edit: pauls42 posted when I was writing this. I guess maybe the two releases are the same after all.

edit 2: Gaaah! Only in R2. See pauls42 post below.

I have multi region... I own discs from R1, R2, R3 and R4...

I only had thought about it, as I would have been able to create a (local) Box Set with the case as the parent and the actual DVD set as a child, like I did for the King Kong Collector's Set I have. Not really important, actually. Just how my twisted DVD Profiler brain is working sometimes...

i may have the christmas spirit (being gentile as i am), but i wasn't aware that the "spirit" of the rule overroad the wording of the rule, regardless of the case size...unless you're talking planet of the apes, alien, and i, robot heads...

this puppy has a front and back, regardless of its handle.

I know where all the Blade Runner Ultimate Edition HD DVD ended up. They are sending them to me. I just got my third copy of this brief case set from Warner Home Video, this time from an order that was canceled, and showing canceled on My Express Checkout, from September 7, 2007. They sent this by overnight express UPS Saturday delivery. They sent that along with a duplicated copy of Omega Man, also canceled from this order. Previously they sent a duplicate copy of Blade Runner from an order that didn't even exist on My Express Checkout. I sent that one back on my own dime. I'm considering not doing anything this time. I can't believe the entire mess that they call their online store. They're probably losing a ton of money on useless express shipping and inept order tracking. They should just farm out the entire operation to Amazon!!!

I've built up a bunch of DVDs to give away again.  Watch for it next year.

This happened with the R2 Phantasm Sphere set. I think the rule should be modified so that non-standard DVD cases in creative and usual shapes should allow a 3-D photo of the packaging.
