Locality CoO which country? |

| | Posted: | | | | Yeah I know, probably everybody knows this one, but I just want to be sure  In your dvd profile in the textbox where you select the country, do you choose the one where you bought the dvd, or the one where it was made/filmed? I tried to read all those contribution rules, but can't find that anywhere... |

We use the country of origin for the primary production company. Please note, that's not necessarily the studio or the distributor. Usually you're looking for "A xxx Production" where xxx is the name of the company.
If there are a number of countries (co-productions) involved then just leave it blank. |

Just to stir the pot...i just submitted a profile that was a three-way co-production and put the first listed because their production company was the primary production company. I'd have preferred the second country because it matched the locale for the film (Smilla's Sense of Snow) but until we get multiple CoOs (a long standing request) it will do. | | Posted: | | | | I've resently updated the CoO of 124 profiles and 32 of them was co-productions. In those cases I stated the primary country added and which countries to be added later when possible, and I got no No-votes and all profiles was accepted and released so that appears to be the way to go.

You have to distinguish two things:
- Country of Origin: the country where the (primary) production company of the movie is based.
- Locality: the country where the DVD you are profiling has been released.
Example: if you are profiling a Dutch release of The Day After Tomorrow, the CoO is USA and the locality is Netherlands. |
