I disagree.

They should be put at the end with repeated dividers.

That's the dumbest I could think of, common sense forces me to agree also.

For the record, I don't really hate you, but I do hate about 99% of the uncredited cast listings.

Guys, I love movies, but I don't know much about the in-depth legal stuff. I'm trying to understand "uncredited". Since the person is obviously known and listed as part of the cast/crew, does uncredited mean that they got less than scale, or didn't appear on the rolling credits, or not getting residuals, or just what? Thanks for any enlightenment.

Uncredited means exactly that.  They were not listed in the credits...anywhere in the credits.  It has nothing to do with pay or residuals.  Those are based on the individual contract.

Just a guess here, maybe that have something to do with SAG (Screen Actor Guild). This is the reason for the use of alias, an actor who work on a non SAG movie and don't want to have trouble with the syndicate.

There are any number of reasons for (uncredited).

For example, Tom Cruise wasn't always TOM CRUISE, at some point in his career he was hey you, kid
Or perhaps an actor decided, for whatever reason to be credited under an alias.

In many movies, if not most (even today) IF EVERYONE was listed who appeared On Screen the list would be OUTRAGEOUS. Take for example, my sole movie appearance in Tank, the crowd scene at the end involved somewhere just shy of 1000 people. Besides contractual agreements the filmmakers decide who gets an On Screen and who doesn't by whatever criteria they choose to apply, and yes even my "invisible"(unless you know what I looked like 20 or 30 years ago) role had a billing clause in my contract...just in case.

I thought at some point in time the agree with SAG  that if you had a speaking role you got a credit.
I don't remember the year.

Thanks guys. It's a lot clearer now. I can also see why the matter generates so much attention. I'll bet there are a whole bunch of interesting stories that would fill volumes of fun reading, revolving around "credits". Thanks again.
