This isn't a topic to dispute recent contributions for credited as for Terrence Howard vs. Terrence Dashon Howard, because according to the credit lookup tool, Terrence Howard has 68 credits to his name and Terrence Dashon Howard has 71. Problem is, what will happen when (not if) Terrence Howard is his most commonly credited name? Only 4 more and that will happen... So, do we have to go back in and switch those around? From what I've seen, all his current movies he's credited as Terrence Howard and I assume this will be the case in the future.

What do you guys think?

I've already addressed this in this thread: http://www.invelos.com/Forums.aspx?task=viewtopic&topicID=250993

Maybe you might want to re-post your concerns in that thread.  Ken answered my first post, but not my second (probably very busy  ).  Maybe you posting might jump-start the thread again.

My suggestion for your scenario would be for an automatic update to happen where all current instances of Terrence Dashon Howard [Credited as: Terrence Howard] get changed to Terrence Howard.

Likewise, an update would also have to change all current instances of Terrence Dashon Howard to Terrence Howard [Credited as: Terrence Dashon Howard]

There are several double credits found with the lookup tool, i.e. movies for which the lookup tool shows credits both for Terrence Howard and for Terrence Dashon Howard. If people who own some of these titles could check the credits, then maybe the lookup tool's results could be modified so that it would be more clear how he is actually most commonly credited.

Some "double credits" found:
* Angel Eyes
* Best Laid Plans
* Big Momma's House
* Biker Boyz
* Dead Presidents
* Hart's War
* Mr. Holland's Opus
* Ray

It was done this way in the following thread about another actor (last few posts on page 2):

Sorry about that. I'll go ahead and repost in that thread.

Hmmm.

The first thing that it seems to me that needs to be done is get it right. There is a lot of crossover between the two names with users ignoring the Rules and trying to normalize the database based on their particular bias. For example Hart's war is As Credited TH, but there are a number of listings for TDH. Now if I understand what falcon originally asked and Ken subsequently answered it sounds like if it is set to TH and the count changes in favor of TDH or vice versa, no further change is required on our part, which if that is true is way cool and I like it.

If all the incorrect Angel Eyes & Hart's War profiles (TDH should be TH) were fixed the count would go from:

Profiles:
TH - 151 / TDH - 215
to
TH - 184 / TDH - 182

and that's just the titles i recognized, i probably missed a couple variants in other languages.

There are a couple TDH profiles of Four Brother & Crash which i don't own but believe he was credited as TH.  Get those fixed and we're on our way.
Bad movie?  You're soaking in it!

What is presumption tweeter.

I can tell you that Hart's War is TH NOT TDH. While Ray is TDH. I haven't looked at my Crash file but I believe he is TH there as well.

No presumption on my part.

I own Angel Eyes and Hart's War and know they could swing the common name from TDH to TH by themselves.

Do you think i said something different?

There is also alot of confusion in the "numbers"

For instance:
Elizabeth Pena (35 titles/62 profiles) and Elizabeth Peña (133 titles/320 profiles)

The REAL number to look at shouldn't be (IMO) titles or profiles, rather UNIQUE titles:

Elizabeth Pena (48 unique titles) and Elizabeth Peña (16 unique titles)

The problem with titles is the numbers are, or can be, skewed because the same unique title can be listed under each name variant.  (I'm assuming by "unique title" you mean something like The Incredibles regardless of title variant [Special Edition, Collector's Edition, etc]).

Lone Star and The Incredibles are found under both Pena and Peña.  Does the one Lone Star profile under Pena cancel the 13 under Peña?

Profiles are indivisible.  A profile is all we each have unique control over so that is what we should count.

I grant that it's an imperfect measure (popular films will skew the numbers because of the larger number of profiles) but no more so than the titles.

I've checked "The Brave One" and he is credited there as Terrence Howard.

So, this far, we have the following confirmed credits for Terrence Howard/Terrence Dashon Howard:

Terrence Howard:
*The Brave One
*Hart's War
*Angel Eyes
*Crash
*Four Brothers
*Mr. Holland's Opus
*Best Laid Plans

Terrence Dashon Howard:
*Ray

Based on only these results, there are (according to the lookup tool) currently 64 profiles where Terrence Dashon Howard is incorrectly credited as such, and 6 profiles where Terrence Howard is similarly incorrectly credited.

After taking this into consideration, the corrected credit lookup tool results show that Terrence Howard is credited in 209 profiles and Terrence Dashon Howard is credited in 157 profiles. I.e., Terrence Howard should be the common name here. This thread can be used as a link in contribution notes where this common name is contributed.

This is currently how the titles/credits play out in Credit Lookup. The titles in red are shared between each name and depending on the actual credits can keep Terrence Howard in the lead or throw it to Terrence Dashon Howard.

BTW, not submitted yet but the upcoming release of "Awake" (coming out 3/4), he's credited as Terrence Howard. I can confirm this because I have the disc.
