so you say in the notes:
Uncredited actors are not required entries.
Sources for one or more of the changes and/or additions were not submitted. Please include the sources for your changes in the contribution notes, especially for cast and crew additions.

Yes, which means you do not have to add them, not you are allowed to remove them without explaining.

Which doesn't allow anybody to delete them from the online database without documentation once they are accepted.

If you want to simply point to IMDB and all is solved. You know how Ken thinks about IMDB.

On new profiles (new versions of previously released discs) uncredited shouldn't be propagated unless a valid source(s) can be documented.

Another profile with contribution notes documenting the uncredited would be acceptable.  Profiles without such contribution notes would not be a valid source.

So what if they aren't required entries? All that means is that if you recognize Joe blow in a scene in the film and he's not credited on screen, you aren't required to enter him into your profile. It doesn't mean that you can willy nilly delete uncredited from a profile because "they aren't required entries". If you delete uncredited from a previously approved profile, especially one prior to the rule requiring documentation, you are required to document that they actually do not belong in the profile because they are IMDb clones or because they actually do not appear in the film.

You can't simply point to IMDb.  You have to convince the voters that they are an exact copy of IMDb.  According to Ken, this is a valid reason for removal.
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.

Well, not to be silly or anything, but I was discussing a profile that is now 3 days old.  At least the DVD release is only 3 days old.  There is only one contributor, presumably the originator and absolutely no notes regarding uncredited cast.  Of course, now the burden of proof is on me to remove them.

Brilliant.

Brilliant.

Except that even for new contributions you are required to include in your notes the source of the data.  One of the main reasons a new contribution is declined is because the contributor didn't show the source of the data.  This should include any uncredited cast.

I don't know if the contributor of the new Bonnie & Clyde profile used the cast from an existing one, [though I guess I should assume this from the title of this thread] but that may have been the reason why it was accepted.  IMO the unredited cast SHOULD have been documented for the new release even if that cast was already in the older profile.  Maybe an old profile could have been grandfathered in when the database went from Intervocative to Invelos, but there's no reason a profile for a new or re-released profile should be exempt from the documentation rule.

If that is the case, then I see no reason you can't remove them.  Simply state, in your notes, that the uncredited cast was not documented and shouldn't be there.  After that, it is up to Gerri to decide whether or not to accept or decline it.

No, I do not know how Ken is thinking about IMDB. But I guess he sees it as a useful resource. How else would he add a direct link to IMDB to his program? But it also seems that he is worried about copyright issues. Or why would he state that we can not copy data from IMDB (or any other third party database) to profiler?

Well, Rho, legal issues aside. Imdb has been created and already exists and in several forms (clones) on the Internet. Why does another IMDb need to be creeated. I mean really, if you like IMDb so much Rho you should use it, it wii let you track 10,000 titles for ffree. Invelos created DVDProfiler they did not create IMDb and they have a different concept.

No other IMDb has to be created. The existing one is good enough. DVD Profiler is something completely different. And I use both of them on a daily basis. Maybe Ken does as well.
