Single or double quotes around nicknames...small rant and an FYI. |

Discussion on Credited As Field Part 2 An interesting thread but it's like a book with the first and last chapters missing! It starts with Gerri summarizing some potential rules updates, then six pages of occasionally ...oh let's call it "lively"  discussion...ending with Gerri saying they would ponder the results. And then nothing! Among the various points most people seemed to agree on the double quotes but a Rules change was never made and the rules still allow quotes, double quotes and parens. If it were to become the rule i'd certainly follow it but i'm curious how it jibes with wanting names to be As Credited. | | | | Bad movie? You're soaking in it! |

if the onscreen credit uses single quotes? (I don't remember seeing a cast list with single quotes, but I don't think it's out of the question) -- but it sounds like you guys are saying that we should ALWAYS use double quotes so we don't resemble IMDB format. Or am I off on a wrong tangent? Ken: This is one of the problems with STANDARDIZATION of naming. You know that iwould say if 'Honi' is an actual credit and it is pssible, I have seen single quotes around nicknames On screen, then as far as I am concerned, that is what you list in the Credited As field. I think, I hope, the discussion relative to Standardizing of names would be more to the Common name than the Credited Name. In THAT particular vein, I would have no issue. Instead, we were given the CLT and were told to use the most commonly credited form of the name.
