I'm game to use the disc ID to correct some bad UPCs but I can't seem to figure out exactly how to do it. If anyone could shed some light on the subject, I'd really appreciate it.

You'll need a DVD-ROM.

Then you insert the actual disc into it. In the DVDP settings you set the DVD drive setting onto your DVD drive (Tools->Option->System->Drive)

The you select your actual DVD and go to DVD -> Change UPC.

Thanks for the prompt reply.

I tried that yesterday and with multiple discs, I kept getting a message that the disc couldn't be read. But I know the drive works because I watch DVDs on it all the time.

Make sure you tell Profiler what drive you are using, or it can't read the disc.  Check the setup from one of the menus, don't remember which one.

Yes, the default setting is "No DVD Drive" so make sure you've let DVDP know you have one.

Ok, I've gotten that to work but what do I do about multi-disc sets, like Bewitched Season 2 or Seaquest DSV?

You enter each disc by UPC if it has one, or by Disc ID.  If its in a digipack, then use the front and rear cover art of the outside covers for each disc.

Curious, I have one of my DVD drives set in DVDP's options; I also have a handful of discs with no UPC [i.e. the individual discs in Alen Qaudrilogy, or the bonus disc from Indiana Jones]. When I put in the discs, the check-box for Use Disc ID is still greyed out. Actually the lower part of the dialogue box is obstructed by some grey "beam".

Two things I found that can affect that:  If you have your system set to automatically start playing a DVD on insertion, it may prevent DVDP from properly reading the ID track while the other program is playing it (such as Power DVD).  Turn off the player if it comes on.

Also, wait until ALL the lights on the drive and PC quit flashing before trying to access Change UPC.

The only times I had a problem was when one of the above was happening.

Autostart is the first thing I switch of on my systems. There aren't any lights for the drives on my comp [sad but true]. I see if I can make it work over the week-end.
