For instance, I have Transporter 2.  My UPC for that DVD is not found via the Add DVD feature, but I can see there is another DVD which has the identical cover art, and identical features.  For all intents and purposes, it is identical except for the UPC (which is nearly identical).  Is there a way I can copy the other contribution as a starting point for my own submission, then simply change the UPC and submit?

Thanks,
DD.

Yes download the profile from the online DB.
in DVDP high light that profile
select DVD from the top menu
Select to Change Locality (if required) or
Change EAN (UPC)
enter the data from your copy, click OK, process done.
You will then see a change in the icons relating to this DVD, ie the Contribute one is now lite up, if your going to contribute this for the rest of the communitity, please read and follow the rules in regards to contributions, else a following visit to the forum's to ask "why was it rejected" usually follows.

There's a complete guide on how to "clone" profiles, as it's called, here. Good luck, Rooster!

Don't forget to scan the dvd cover.
Your contribution will most likely be rejected if the UPC doesn't match the UPC on the submitted cover.

Alsao do NOT forget to verify that the data matches the Rules and the film. We have many Profiles which aree correct and many which are not if you imply clone a Proifile and contribute it, but you have picked the wrong one to clone then all that has been done is magnifying a problem and making it worse. Also If you verify the data for accuracy please state it in your notes.

Ok, thanks for the guide.  I have followed it and made my first contribution.  We'll see if I end up in the "Why was this not accepted?" crowd or not.

And yes, scanned the front and back cover as proof of UPC.  Also popped the DVD in the drive to acquire the DiscID.  Incidentally, although that is probably the easiest way to do that given the length of the DiscID, is the discID stored in a readable format somewhere on the disc itself?  Or do I always have to actually stick the DVD into my computer's drive?

Thanks,
RR.

The disc ID is only recoverable by the program as far as I know.

Thanks.  One more question while I have your attention.  I have found some of the DVDs in my list which were found on the site but have very meager information.  For instance, have a look at UPC 043396-243842 Resident Evil Extinction.

What is the easiest way to fill it out?  Other profiles for that movie list all cast, crew, etc. whereas this particular UPC has none of that.  If I edit it and then up it, I assume it will overlay the one which is there (which is good), but it also means I have to fill in all the details.  There are other DVDs which have almost all of the correct data, with a different UPC.  So would the procedure be, download a much more filled one, change the UPC (and any other relevant data), then up that to overlay the old?

Thanks,
DD.

The answer to that is per the Rules, Rooster. If the data is not there and you can't clone/verify the data, then YOU have to do it...there is no easy way.

You don't have to download then change the EAN/UPC to clone a profile, you can download then just copy/paste cast and crew if required (one section at a time). But if doing this as we have said still verify with your DVD credits to ensure accurancy before submitting.
