They can't really vote based on what a person stands for because they only have two choices! If neither of those two people have policies you agree with, you're pretty much screwed! |

And the primary process insures that those choices are dicated by the most rabid of the party base so it really minimizes the chance that either cantidate will represent the middle ground that most Americans want.
