Bill:
I would split the room, so mutch esier to get good sound witch is half by me...
And I aslo would get the picture as low as I could get it, more comfortable (when sitting in cinemas I prefer sitting somewhere in the middle to get the screen in senter of seat..) . It's maybe a lensshift in your projector as well as zoom so you could shift it up and down regarding the ratio?  is it an InFocus?

I would also get a fixed screen to get rid og all the problems with pull downs, if you dont own tab tension there is...

And one more, go bat cave, now that you have the opertunity - you will not regret it!

Good luck with your room.

Loved your entry room with the posters.

I'm a draftsman so dont really know jack about designing, but good ways to do a compromise would be to split the room with either very heavy curtains or moving walls.

I agree with you though that dont at least build walls. Pool table takes a lot of space, and the minimum space it requires isnt really enough, if you dont want holes in your walls Its also better that when youre not watching movies, people can sit on the sofas and still talk with the people that play pool.

I would hang surround speakers from the roof. If people are lounging there, wouldnt use floor space for speakers myself, with the wires crossing there and all.

Place the bar behind the sofas, so that when someone get a refill, they can use some soft lights without annoying all the other viewers.

If youre going to place your DVD collection there, id recommend using drawers. Takes a lot "less" space

Curtains and moving walls is an interesting idea but it will do nothing for acoustics or anything at all for the theater itself. I would go with a completely open room before going that route. Sound treatment will be more difficult but it shouldn't be an overwhelming problem.

Sound and light control are two of the main reasons for having a dedicated room for HT.

Yes it is temporary. The wife had me finish the other nine rooms before tackling this one. I got it to where the downstairs is all put together and she is happy. So I can start tinkering in my room now.

This is what I was planning. Speakers in the ceiling, Bar behind the sofa and the library is being built in the basement to house my ever growing media collection. I think the DVD's in the room would be too much although I will keep a few hundred on a shelf at any given time.

Just ordered the screen for the room. It is a Elitech 106" Fixed Frame Grey screen. 3" black velvet border around the screen. Will take pictures when I get it on the wall.

Well, you're not. We're just watching the story unfold. And yeah, maybe we're (read "I am") just a tad jealous!

Well here is the screen on the wall. A/V stand put together and the front speakers in place. The projector is next to mount to the ceiling and the speakers hooked up. It is coming together.
