I’m a bit confused.
...

Not the first time I've read this in the DVDP Forums.
I hope the confusion is over and you got the answer to your question. (And we can stop this thread to not have another five pages of argueing)

To summarize: The number of movies is the more important number in the CLT results.
The number of movies would be equal to the number of titles if all profiles would be entered correct and complete regarding original title/title.*
Different Editions don't make a new movie title. (+ Even if not all agree: A different cut is also no new movie, because it's an Edition)
The number of profiles is the tie-breaker.**

* A problematic exists with counting TV series. (You can have a look at several threads in the forum) If you want, ask yourself how "number of Movies" would be transformed to TV series.

** A personnel note: If in near future a new movie could be the tie-breaker, it is often better to wait.

Yes thank you, I think I have an interpretation in my head that is useable now; until the next ambiguity comes along of course!  Now please everyone, be happy that you've helped me to make better contributions in future (which is exactly what I wanted to be able to do) and go and enjoy how brilliant so many films are to watch.

Do you ever find yourself striving for perfection with an almost worthless attempt at it?  Guttermouth "Lemon Water".  Also, I include in my Profiler database VHS tapes, audio DVDs, audio books (digital, cassette and CD), video games (digital, DVD and CD) and 'enhanced' CDs with video tracks on them, as well as films and TV I've bought digitally.  So I'm an anarchist, deal with it.  Just be thankful I don't include most of my records and CDs etc in it too; don't think I haven't been tempted...

It's a tool, a pretty basic one, that helps us in determining the common name, but it's no more than that.

Specifically, it's a database query. That's were the real power of databases comes into play; with the ability to query them. I've always hated the term "credit lookup tool" because it implies that it is some kind of specialized tool when it is in fact a query. It would really be nice if you could query the database for other things as well. It seems silly to go to all the trouble to contribute to an online database that you can't even query (save for actor names).
99.9% of all cat plans consist only of "Step 1."
