I loaded all my movies on to DVD Profiler for the iPad.  How can I save this information in case I ever have to reload it I don't have to do one movie at a time?  I have both a PC laptop and a MAC home computer to back it up to or is there an invelos website that does this as well?

Download DVD Profiler for Windows (the free version will do) and sync from your iPad. You can also upload to the online database from the desktop program and backup the desktop database. Edit: I just realized that you already use the desktop version.

Currently you can't use the online database from an iOS device (though that has been announced as an upcoming feature) or backup the iOS database directly. Of course the database is part of the backup iTunes makes each time you plug in your iPad.

Once I upload from iPad to the free windows DVD Profiler, can I now sync the iphone to that same program so iPad and iPhone match?

That is only for the Windows Mobile version.

Go into the databases section of the app, select your database and follow the instructions you get when pressing the "help" button.

My "HELP" button will not work since I am not able to put the ipad online at this time.

I have DVD Profiler 3.7 running on my windows laptoptop.
I have the iPad connected to the laptop.

On the ipad DVD Profiler app I selected "Databases"
Then I selected "Connect to DVD Profiler for PC"

Now it is asking for a "Host:"  ??? and a "Password:" ???
It is showing Port; 32847

I am not sure were to go from here?

First get the iPad online. You won't be able to sync without a wifi or 3G connection. There is no need to physically connect your iPad to your laptop.

Host is the IP or computer name shown on the bottom of the DVD Profiler for Windows screen after you enabled sharing (Tools - Options - Sharing).
Password is the one you set in the sharing options.

No Wonder!!!

Thanks, I was thinking I could just tether it to do the sync, I did not realize the sync is done via wi fi.

Will have to do this when I get home then, I am on the road at this time.

Thanks!

O.K.  I am now staying at a hotel with wi fi, my laptop is running DVD Profiler 3.7 and sharing is unabled per iPad instructions.  I have used both the laptop name and the IP address on the bottom part of DVD Profiler as the host name and used the password I set in DVD Profiler sharing as my password name on the iPad.  My IP address starts with 172.17.xxx.xxx and the port is set to default.

I am still unable to connect to upload or back up my iPad data to DVD Profiler.
What can I be doing wrong now?

Thanks

Most likely there is a problem with a firewall or the router. Obviously you won't be able to do anything with the router in the hotel. Allow DVD Profiler in any firewall running on your laptop. If that doesn't work, try port 80 instead of the default port.

You might also want to check the numerous other threads about connection problems in this forum.

Thanks for your Reply !!!

I have read other threads and tried port 80.  The iPad app stays on "connecting" for about 40 seconds and then says "Unable to connect".

Why is this so difficult, all I want is to connect and upload the data to my PC for back up.

What has been tried;
I set sharing in DVD Profiler as outlined in the iPad Help.
Used default port and port 80 set in both the DVD Profiler and iPad app.
Used computer name as well as IP address as indicated on the bottom of DVD Profiler.
I am using a hotel room wi fi at this time with a public 172 IP address, don't know if this may be the cause or not, but it should not be this difficult.

The problem is there are so many cofigurations and security measures than can affect transferring data in and out of your PC. If you use windows firewall on your computer perhaps that is what is blocking you. Open the firewall and take a look at the list of allowed programs to see if DVDProfiler is on the list, if it is not then you will need to include it or the firewall will not allow external connection to the program.

DVD Profiler is on the list with a check mark allowing it.
