Hello

Sometimes (and it happens a lot with documentaries), an individual is not named in the end or opening credits anywhere, but does get mentioned on-screen; (typically a caption under them as they're speaking).  In this type of case, do we contribute them normally or as uncredited?

Thanks!

Paul
Do you ever find yourself striving for perfection with an almost worthless attempt at it?  Guttermouth "Lemon Water".  Also, I include in my Profiler database VHS tapes, audio DVDs, audio books (digital, cassette and CD), video games (digital, DVD and CD) and 'enhanced' CDs with video tracks on them, as well as films and TV I've bought digitally.  So I'm an anarchist, deal with it.  Just be thankful I don't include most of my records and CDs etc in it too; don't think I haven't been tempted...

I think the standard is that they are considered credited.

Since documentaries fall out of most of DVDP's rules, the "end credits" rule also can't be applied too harshly. You have a documented name on screen and mostly with documentaries it "himself" or "herself" anyway, so I think it's as good a source as any.

There is no requirement that they be 'normal' credits.  If they are credited in some way, and I think your example qualifies, then I would enter them as credited.
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.
The Centauri learned this lesson once.
We will teach it to them again.
Though it take a thousand years, we will be free.

Personally I credit them, the name appear when they appear on screen so they are credited. I list them in the order they come on the screen with a credit.

edit: Of course after those who are credited in the opening / ending credit, usually the narator of the documentary.

I agree that that's an on-screen credit.

I agree as well... it is how I always do documentaries. they are credited. They're just not standard credits... but they are still credits all the same.
