How would you go about replacing a misspelled cast member for an entire series?  Do you have to go into each episode of each season and replace the cast member with the correctly spelled name?  Or is there a way to buk edit something like that where it would replace the misspelled name for the entire series?

Misspelled name in question (Series: Andromeda):  Brent Strait (incorrect) replace with Brent Stait.

I assume you have validated the screen credit

Here is what I would do

One of two options
1) If there is only one Brent Stait/Brent Strait in your collection simply open one of the profiles, go to cast, search for the cast member in the left side and edit the cast member, changing the name.

Otherwise
2)
In DVDP go into the profile and copy the cast

Paste the data in a text editor and you will see XML

Find the line you want to correct

Search and replace the text ensuring only the lines affected you want to be affected

Copy the XML into the copy buffer
Paste it back into DVDP

Is he credited the wrong way (i.e. common name is something else?)

Or is he just mispelled in the database but correctly in the credits.

If the latter, simply open one profile, cast tab, type the incorrect name on the left name, press "edit cast member" and correct the name

It's simply misspelled for the entire series, every episode he is in.  His name is Brent Stait, not Brent Strait.  Same actor is in Stargate SG-1, spelled correctly.  Incidentally (interestingly), there is no Brent Strait in the DVD Profiler Cast listing.  Also, if you do a Google Image search for Brent Strait, it brings up images for Brent Stait and a little message 'Showing images for Brent Stait'.  Cast member name is spelled correctly in the disc episode/cast listing.  Whoever culled the information for this series just spelled the guy's name incorrectly.

Per CLT Brent Stait wins, so you'll have no choice but to adjust every single credit

Brent Stait [as Brent Strait]

I don't see why we'd use credited as Brent Strait in this case?

In the UK profile he's correctly credited as Brent Stait without the r, which matches the credits of the UK release, so unless kd5 has a release with a different set of credits (and that's not the way I read his post) the issue is somebody's incorrectly entered data.

Not sure if that means there is an easier way to correct the issue though.

All My Andromeda, UPC 702727141027, 52 profiles,  the compete series have Brent Stait. I have a total of 67 entries of Brent Stait.

And no Brent Strait on any profile of my 21,540 profiles.

Ok, the kd has to make clear with what he means by "misspelled for the entire series". I thought he referred to the onscreen credits.

If it is just the profiles then we go back to my suggestion in my first post (simple rename the cast entry).

I think he did make it clear in his second post.

I have the Australian Complete Series set and mine is a mix with season 1 and 2 having "Brent Strait" and the rest as "Brent Stait", so I guess I have some work to do

Well, for better or for worse I've submitted the changes in the spelling of Brent Stait's name.  He was primarily in Seasons 1 & 2, but also appeared a couple of times later in the series.  In those instances his name was spelled correctly, not so for Seasons 1 & 2.  It wasn't as time consuming to change as I'd initially thought it would be.

One of these days, unless someone gets to it first, and provided I have enough time to invest, I'll have to see what I can do about child profiles for this series.
