| Posted: | | | | Recently it has become custom for some TV shows to be released in a BR/DVD combo pack but also in the classical DVD-only version.
Regarding the disc profiles of the DVD: Which version of profile (e.g. for the case type) does win?

| Posted: | | | | In these cases they are normally released on the same day. So I would have to say first into the database wins.
This is another reason we need another way to add discs other then UPC and Disc IDs. | | | Pete | | | Last edited: by Addicted2DVD |

| Posted: | | | | I'd say "Business As Usual". Means if a specific EAN/UPC has two (or more) varying releases on the same day the first to make it into our database wins. Otherwise we will have endless Ping-Pong contributions. | | | It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up! But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

| Posted: | | | | ^^^ agree with Pete and Lewis.
It pretty much just comes down to whoever gets it submitted into the database first...otherwise there would be endless flip-flopping between the two. | | | Corey |

| Posted: | | | | I'm going to be the odd man out and say that the DVD only release should take priority for the DVD child profiles. The Blu-ray versions will already have their own, so why make things harder for those that bought the DVD only version? | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. The "DVD" is just as valid when included in a Blu-ray + DVD Combo pack as it is in a standalone DVD release. | | | Corey | | | Last edited: by Katatonia |

| Posted: | | | | I personally see it the same way as Katatonia. The DVDs are part of the combo sets... So why should it always be wrong for those that bought the combo sets?.. But always right for those that bought the DVD only sets?
I think at least until there is a way to add them both ways (new way to add profiles other then UPC and Disc ID) the only fair way would be first in the database wins, this way they are only sometimes wrong for everyone. | | | Pete |

Guttermouth "Lemon Water". Also, I include in my Profiler database VHS tapes, audio DVDs, audio books (digital, cassette and CD), video games (digital, DVD and CD) and 'enhanced' CDs with video tracks on them, as well as films and TV I've bought digitally. So I'm an anarchist, deal with it. Just be thankful I don't include most of my records and CDs etc in it too; don't think I haven't been tempted... |

Fair or not, it makes more sense...at least to me...to have the profiles, created by disc ID, match the media type. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. | Posted: | | | | I've never liked the "first come, first serve" being the way data is decided.
Why in the world should the ability to type faster make it "right"?
Fix the problem - find a solution that works for both the DVD and Blu-ray owners.
Anything less, imho, is unacceptable. |

| Posted: | | | | Personally, I think it'd make sense to prefer using the DVD info largely because in the BD combo pack, DVD is the secondary format. I usually buy Blu-rays nowadays and rarely use disc-level profiles, but I wouldn't mind having the DVD info. Would this really affect anything other than case type and cover art? | | | My DVD/Blu-ray Collection My Letterboxd Page |

Would it affect anything besides case type and cover art? Perhaps not, but that's beside the point. As I said before, the "DVD" in a Combo Pack is no less valid an entry than a standalone DVD release. Why should Combo pack users have to sacrifice? I don't see the justification in that. I buy Combo packs all the time, and I do submit many of the DVD's into the database as child profiles. | | | Corey |

| Posted: | | | | First and foremost I agree with Kathy... but that takes a program fix from Ken.
Until that happens... I completely agree with Corey (Katatonia). I see no reason the combo set owners should have to always sacrifice the correct data per what they bought to the dvd only release owners. | | | Pete |
