Just a simple question, should this featured be checked only if the main movie has multi-angle option (I only know music DVD's with this option) or also if in bonus features, when sometimes we have just one scene with multi-angle, if it can be changed from remote?

Thanks!

From the rules: "Any multi-angle content (accessed via the Angle button on your remote)". I think it's clear that it's for any kind of content. (Don't like it personally though)

The rules state:
Quote:
Any multi-angle content (accessed via the Angle button on your remote)

which is not really clear.

I have always believed it to mean only the main feature, but I guess it is open to interpretation.

I have seen it a lot on music DVDs (concerts and videos) but I have heard the functionality is used most in the adult DVD industly... i've heard... apparently... people tell me...

I'd say main feature only.

I've never come across a disc where the main feature had multi-angle. I'd imagine only the kind of discs Lopek... has heard about... have that

Definitely for bonus features.

Actually, Buena Vista uses (or used to) the multi-angle feature on some their releases to show the credits of the animated features in other languages than English.

Not just animated features, but live action features too, e.g. UNBREAKABLE and BELOVED R1 both have multi-angle on the credits.

I tick multi-angle if it's in the main feature or on bonus materials. Basically as the rules say - "any". It's useful to know it for both.

The German animated "Captain Bluebear" film uses multi-angle on the main feature. You can switch between the finished movie and the scribbled storyboard version. I think that's a nice addition.
But it's one of the best animated DVDs anyway. Dolby Digital EX, director's commentary, isolated score, and much more. Would love to see Disney doing something similar on their releases...

Haven't they used seamless branching rather than multiple angle for this purpose?

Nope, it was definitely multiple angles. On my first DVD player the angle mark would show up on the LCD display every time.

Those angles weren't accessible via the remote though, so it would be wrong to check the "multi-angle" box, according to the rules.

FWIW, because of the lack of OFFICIAL standard for seamless branching (and it's expense and lack of machines which do it!) any Doctor Who DVD which has a choice to watch as originally transmitted or with new SFX uses Angle branching
However (unless your player is hacked) you can't chage angles on the fly, you just get a choice of which to watch so against the Rules (as CPreischi just pointed out and I missed until now), as well as being potentially misleading since the images are not from different angles.

FWIW I believe the Rule to mean any multi-angle on the DVD, so if there is a multi-angle featurette of a scene I think it is perfectly correct to tick the box... I also personally think "Any multi-angle content" is obviously referring to the disc not the feature as it would not be worded this way otherwise... however it seems (not for the first time) not everyone agrees!
It is dangerous to be right in matters where established men are wrong
