| | Posted: | | | | A few Israeli distributors used unusually short UPCs for quite some time.
One of this titles was 'The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring: Collector's Gift Set', UPC number: 8777902
I had no problem overcoming this issue previously by entering a new Disc ID instead, But I don't know what to do in this case.
Until now the DVD was contributed using a British UPC (with Israeli localization). This was done because the local UPC was uknown (no UPC was printed on the box believe it or not) ... until now that is.
Should I use the first DVD ID or what?
The rules are not clear in that specific case.

These are called UPC-E/EAN-8 as opposed to our regular ones that are called UPC-A/EAN-13. I don't remember the exact formula (I can check my notes if someone is interested) but you're right, scanning them will convert them back to 12/13 digits as long as your scanner supports and is configured for UPC-E/EAN-8 expansion. However, the Digipak inside has a different UPC number on it - 8778534.
