| Posted: | | | | Don't you just hate it when different releases of a particular movie get the same UPC#? I just bought the single disc blu-ray of Jupiter Ascending, entered it into DVD Profiler and it downloaded the profile for the BD+DVD+Digital HD release. Thought that was strange so I looked, sure enough the back scan reveals the same UPC # as the single disc BD I hold in my hand. Why do they do stuff like that? Each release should have its own unique UPC#. I scanned the front/back covers of mine. imported them into this Profile, changed the Overview to match mine, deleted the DVD child profile, now I have the version I bought. I won't try to contribute any of this, I just wanted the proper profile in my database. I wish they wouldn't do stuff like that.... | | | Time is the fire in which we burn. (Soran) |

I wish they wouldn't do stuff like that.... I wonder if they have pay more to get a new UPC for stripped down re-releases, but it's been going on since the dvd days. Columbia was notorious for this, replacing early flipper discs with FS only re-issues. It made ordering online akin to gambling if you wanted the widescreen version of Sheena or The Fan! Must be the money! Like mreeder said though, this is exactly what the alternate version feature is for (besides new covers and other regions re-using old UPC's), so contributing yours as an alternate would be a benefit for the database. |

| Posted: | | | | That happens sometimes even with total different films, both the sam UPC/EAN. But now we have the possibility also to open those with UPC #1 as an alternate profile. When a user later enters the UPC he get's a choice, which of the two films he would like to download.

| Posted: | | | | How exactly do you use the Alternate feature? Do you choose it as you're first entering the UPC#? Can you do after it's already been entered? I tried to change mine to alternate once it was already entered and all it wanted to do was change it to the existing profile (BD+DVD+Digital HD). I assume you have to choose Alternate when it's first entered, then enter your own information? How much of your own information do you have to enter yourself? Can you accept most of the already existing information then edit with alternate covers, etc.?
I tried looking at the instructions for entering Alternates but apparently my brain wasn't wired to comprehend what exactly I was supposed to do.
Thanks for any help you can give me! | | | Time is the fire in which we burn. (Soran) | | | Last edited: by kd5 |

| Posted: | | | | Select DVD menu option then Change UPC / Locality, this will bring up a separate window. In that window to the right is a box with a large graphic arrow under the graphic of a disc with three diverging arrows coming out of the top of it. Click in the box, this will pop up a different box in which you can select to Create New Alternate Version. | | | Registered: February 10, 2002 |

| Posted: | | | | Well, I created a new alternate version of Jupiter Ascending and contributed it. I hope I did it right. If not, I'm completely clueless. | | | Time is the fire in which we burn. (Soran) |
