I see many boxsets with a title like "Title A / Title B", and original title like "Original Title A / Original Title B".

This seems wrong to me. The actual boxset never had that original title. The boxset children should of course have their original titles, but not the boxset, in my opinion.

Thoughts?

I agree completely. An empty box, a profile that doesn't actually profile any filmed content, doesn't have an "Original Title".

Partly agree. There are box sets, which are published in more than one country (e.g. Alfred Hitchcock Collection). In this case I would assign an original title. But never the titles of single film contained in the box.

But then what would be the "original" country of the box set if it was released in multiple locations? Whatever country happened to release it first?

I don't think, that this question can be answered generally. For Alfred Hitchcock it seems to be clear, the US version, since all films are originally from this location. But the location of the first release seems to be a good start...

I think the rules make it clear that original title is for features, not for boxsets.

I would not. What would be the purpose? It's a profile for an empty cardboard box. That the same cardboard box is sold under different names in different countries is of no particular interest. Films have original titles, cardboard boxes do not.

Agree that box sets don’t have original titles, only films do (and therefore only child profiles)

I agree with T!M and Danae... no original titles for box sets.

Count me in with T!M, Danae and Pete...no original title.

Well, a quick check using ProfilerQuery tells me I have 29 boxsets that need to have original title removed.

Not sure if I should bother to contribute them unless there is something else as well. It's pretty much just a cosmetic correction, it doesn't add any informational value, and personally I dislike when I get updates like that. It's like, say, just changing double spaces to single spaces. In a wider contribution it's fine, but on its own it's just an annoying update.

What about foreign titles? for the sake of argument, say there was Grudge/Grudge 2 box set. At the box set level, original title could be used to say Ju On/Ju On 2. Would that be acceptable use? Now what if it's two unrelated movies? I guess one must resort to Title A / Title B. What if, again, they're two foreign movies, say The Grudge / Pulse. Would original title as "Ju On / Kairo" be acceptable at the box set level? I don't consider it incorrect as the box set should be allowed to inherit some information from it's content. Perhaps I'm misunderstanding the intent/use of "Original Title".

Technically, more than likely, the box set itself never had the title Grudge/Grudge 2, it's just something descriptive and it has to be entered as something. Myself, I would prefer, where possible, it be entered something like "The Grudge Collection" or "The Grudge Double Feature" as it's tidier to look at and more consistent with the naming convention for larger collections. Sometimes names must be necessarily vague. Take something like this one, 096009-203443, and all you can do is give it the name "10 Horror Movies", which isn't very descriptive, but it's all you have and not feasible to list them all in the same title. Take 883904-226444, for instance. It's in the database as "The Curse / Curse 2: The Bite: Horror Double Feature". Personally, I would prefer it be entered as "The Curse : Horror Double Feature". It's not like individual titles are listed in the box set title for larger collections, like this one, 065935-572367, "The Crow: DVD Quadruple Feature". So why should they be for doubles?
