Hi Marcel,

In any case, it's a milestone making it appropriate to thank you for what you've done for the Invelos community!

It sounds rather inefficient that you've needed to make 35 contributions for every profile you own.

Your calculations are way off because almost everyone of those contributions contained several, if not dozens, of corrections.

But, even if each contribution contained a single fix, he has spent a lot of time and effort submitting 100,000 profiles to make the database better.

Let's see... 2,836 profiles and 100,000 contributions.  That's 35.26 contributions per profile.  I know I was a little off but I wouldn't call it "way off".

Too many.  But at least I've contributed what I have and not what I don't have.

I had deleted that section of my post - I didn't want to seem rude. But, I wasn't fast enough I see.

You have never contributed a pre-release?

Actually it doesn't matter. Ken has ruled that one can contribute data that one doesn't have in hand.

Not only that, but it works out to, almost, 40 contributions a day.

What boggles my mind, however, is the number of accepted Image Contributions.  How does one submit 20,569 cover scans when one only owns 2,836 titles?  I mean, I know how you get to 100,000 contributions...you audit one title, then submit the same information to every profile for that title...but how does that work for cover scans?

I will admit that I only have 831 accepted contributions, but I only contribute data that I have personally audited and only to profiles I own.  I do not copy other people's work and I do not contribute to other localities.  Does that make me a bad contributor?

Sometimes when I clone an US Blu-ray or DVD to make the German profile and I see the Crew and Cast are totally wrong I do it for my German profile, but contribute it also to the US profile so people do not clone in the future bad data. Gives a little bit more work, but think it's good for the database. But have only about 6500 contributions yet over about 4 years with 5'500 films in my database now. Hope I must never get to 100'000, hehe.

No way. Anyone who helps the database is a good contributor.

Of course nowadays "bad" is good...so maybe you are a "baaad" contributor!

If only all "good contributors" helped the database.  (And this is not aimed at marcelb7.)

I have been a member for quite a few years. In that time I have evaluated and contributed many, many profiles.

In all that time, and tens of thousand of profiles, I seldom have a problem with the vast majority of them.

Of course there are a few ongoing issues, common name and birth years come to mind, but overall I find the contribution process quite easy.

But, if one were to read the forums, one might think the exact opposite.

I find that very interesting.

I download all titles for a common name thread. and correct any incorrect credits for that paticular cast/crew.
There are threads that were done years ago and no corrections have been done.
Since the CLT dictates the common name that is supposed to be used or you have to see if a common name thread has been done. All those incorrect credited names screw up my database and cause newbies to have problems within their databases and contributions. You don't have to contribute, you can do 1 every 3 days (what your totals are) and I would venture a guess that most of them are from the changeover to DVDP when they just contributed all the bad data into the database from the crap filled earlier database.

I try to think outside the box, and don't look at "just my collection", but to the quality of the database in general.

The last 2 years I also flagged thousands of incorrect profiles for deletion, and apparently these count as contributions too.

For more than 10 years I worked for a (recently closed) chain of DVD/CD stores in the Netherlands, so I had access to quite a lot of release info, including pre-releases and cover images. So again, not just "my collection", but a way to improve the database in general. There are many more people who add pre-order titles to the database, some of them very much under the radar (or "not on the forum"  ).

Lately I also removed a few thousand incorrect birth year entries. I hoped Invelos might be able to do that in a single mass update, but alas it was a manual affair...

I suspected something like that when I saw the number of cover images you've contributed.
