It's basic english I agree. The words "appears" and "appearance" are visual by definition. The fact that some music credits use the word "appears courtesy of [insert record company name]" should not invalidate the fact these words describe a visual occurrence. That would be using the exception to define the rule. The credits in question do not reference a record company or other company which has provided the courtesy of the "appearance"; therefore, in the absence of anything which says these are not visual "appearances", one can only take them to mean a reference to a visual. You will often find "special appearance by" in musical films and these credits may or may not be immediately adjacent to the cast credits. Please let's not have to do screen captures to prove actual credits. The credits are what the credits are. | | | ...James

Then prove it, do what I suggested., You don't have any special abilities either. North and Tim think they are metalists and can determine things just because they say so. PROVE IT. I think you are probably right, but that isn't good enoughj. Just find ONE PERSON, the difference between me and thee is that while i believe that Tim and North are correct, I am not willing to ASSUME that, particularly because it is North and Tim...I don't trust their psychic abilities t ascertain the filmmaker's designs and neither one of them said they had any PERSONAL knowledge of it.

Skip You are the one advocating the feared possibility that they don't appear on-screen. Prove it. Otherwise the credits speak for themselves. | | | ...James

| Posted: | | | | Quoting skipnet50: Quote: the difference between me and thee is that while i believe that Tim and North are correct, I am not willing to ASSUME that Actually, the difference is that I'm trying to enter some cast data into the program, while you're doing your best to keep it out - even though you concede that we're "probably right"... Why? Why fight so hard against data of which you yourself are largely convinced that it indeed belongs there? Why does it always have to be "guilty until proven innocent" instead of "innocent until proven guilty"? How is your repeated assuming that it's NOT what it says on the screen preferable over me assuming that it IS what it says on the screen? Why does that get me the burden to provide proof that these "appearances by" are indeed "appearances by" - why don't you prove that they're anything else? It's like James says: Quoting m.cellophane: Quote: Please let's not have to do screen captures to prove actual credits. The credits are what the credits are. And he's absolutely right, of course. You already said that you didn't, but if you really think that "special appearances by" does NOT mean that these people are seen on-screen - then by all means prove it! I certainly don't feel compelled to provide additional proof for copying a bunch of rather straight-forward credits right from the screen into DVD Profiler. So I'd like you to provide some proof for a change. Not just blowing smoke in an "it could mean anything" kind of way, but something palpable please. And if you can't find anything, I suggest we put this to rest and enter these people, okay? |

Then stop trying to pretend to have psychic abilities and support your contention.
@ James:
I DON'T have to prove anything the datra is within the crew section NOIT the cast section, hence contrary to yoiu opinion they are CREW plain and simple. You want to call them something else then it falls on your shoulders to PROVE it. Get out your divining rod and see if it will anwer it for you. And BTW a time stamp would serve as well as as a screen cap.
I will vote no to any such unsupported contention and wuld consider it gross violation of the Rules.

Just submit the profile changes and the vote will decide. This is not because Skip or me or any other user say that something is against the rule that it is. |

Quote: Personally, I couldn't care less about at which point in the credits these people are listed. They're cast, so I'd include them. How do you tell that they are cast? Denverly Grant usually is doing costumes, so probably her "special appearance" was some extra work in the costumes department. A timecode or a screenshot would be helpful here. Tim: I believe that goblins already answered your mind reading capabilities. It has been PROVEB that a person is a Crew member, CAN YOU prove that he/she/it appeared in the film. Or YOU James.
