Wrong.  By definition, a stunt double is someone who stands in for an actor/actress when they can't or in special circumstances, AND when doing stunts.  Also known as 'body double'.  No actual stunts have to be performed.

By what definition is that? Neither Wikipedia nor IMDB supports that definition. I know that neither are very reliable, but those were the ones I found. I'd be interested to know your source...

Sorry but a stunt double is someone who stands in when there could be danger to the actor involved, a body double is someone whose body part is used instead of the actor invloved, usually there's nudity involved but not always. In this case Susan Henning would be classed as a stand-in, and I see no reason why she can't be classed as an uncredited actress if you want to.

I must confess I have lost this thread. Susan Henning is credited? As part of...? I know we are talking about the original Parent Trap. I know she is not credited in the end credits, which MIGHT make her (uncredited), if this is true I would have to take a neutral stance, I would not personally be inclined an (uncredited) body double. If she is credited in the opening cedits....hmmmm that would seem to be unusual. There are titles that do have stan-in included simply because of the way the filmmakers configured the cast listing, but generally they are not credited in such a way that they are applicable to profiler.

Susan Henning isn't credited at all.  She was the person in the original Parent Trap that Hayley Mills played off of.  She played the "other twin" whenever Hayley was in the shot to make it easier (and probably less expensive) for the director to film.  Instead of shooting Hayley twice, once as Susan and once as Sharon, they used Henning as the 2nd twin.  Everytime the 2 are in the room together and you see the back of one and the face of the other, the back is Henning.  Henning also was used as a place holder so Mills knew how far to throw out her arms and things like that so when they replaced her, bits and pieces wouldn't be cut off.

In the featurette in this box set, there is an interview with Henning that talks about her experience with the movie.  She states that she had to sign away her rights to be credited in the movie because Walt Disney wanted it to really seem like there was only one actress playing the part of Susan/Sharon.  Another featurette has Mills talking about Henning in the film as well.

My question was should I add her to the cast list as uncredited?  I'm trying to follow the rules and don't want to add unneccesary people to the cast list, but it seems to me that she played a vital part of the movie.  That basically she acted in it, but to help with the illusion of one girl playing 2 parts, she was okay in not being listed in the movie credits.

Does that make it clearer?  Like I said before, if people decide that she's not supposed to be credited, I won't.

And I said as such.  Why did you take what I said out of context?

I couldn't find where you said that. You were explaining something about another movie and Alan Ladd. Then you seemed to draw the bottom line, based on the previous explanation, that "we don't credit stunt people". It seemed enough to quote that bottom line, rather than waste space by quoting the entire post.

Yes, we basically don't credit stunt people, but there are certain exception, which didn't seem to considered by your blanket statement, which you even made twice... That is the only reason I pointed out, that occasionally (when they are amidst the cats list), we will credit them.

If you go through the entire thread, you'll see that I said just exactly that.  However, for all intents and purposes we don't profile stunt people, that one minor exception notwithstanding.
