| Posted: | | | | Hello, I'm a newly registered user of DVD Profiler. In my opinion this program lacks 2 very important features:
1. easy exporting to html 2. more media formats (like DVR, DIVX etc).
I hope you'll add those features very soon. Otherwise it's a great program. Thanks. | | | Last edited: by ougee |

| Posted: | | | | 1.) What kind of HTML? What do you expect the exported web site should look like?
You could use the exported XML and use a XSL transformation to create any website output you could dream of.
2) DVR and DivX (I presume self-recorded movies from TV and not something illegal) are still burnt on DVD, are they not? So they aren't "other media formats". | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online

1. easy exporting to html The program exports to .xml. Sufficient for anyone's needs. Or, as stated previously, you can use phpDVDprofiler as many of us do. Quote: 2. more media formats (like DVR, DIVX etc). The program is for cataloging your DVD collection thus the name DVD Profiler. DVR, DIVX, etc, are not media formats, they are codecs. If you wish to include home movies or files ripped to your HD, you are free to do so by creating manual profiles for them. | Posted: | | | | I'm sure if talk to people who are not computer geeks but still collect DVDs, you'll see that exporting to .xml is very far from being sufficient for anyone's needs.
The same story with the phpDVDprofiler which seems quite complicated. Not to mention that I was talking about features integrated in the DVDProfiler and not some third-party software. Most of the other DVD collection programs have the option of exporting to html. So I guess this has become the standard for this type of software.
As for other media formats still it would be very useful. At least they could make the "Media Format" field customizable. This is not a big deal, I guess. |

For now if you deselect all media types, "DVD" is selected again automatically. | | | Last edited: by RHo |

You can whatever media you wish to your LOCAL database via the Tag system, simply setup the Tag you wish VHS, DivX, whatever and then use it. You cannot however and willnot be able to contribute such titles to the Online, however when you upload your colection everyone will get to see what you have.

It is indeed a very good tutorial. Without any knowledge of PHP and MySQL I created a nice mini website with all my DVDs within an hour or so. Thanks to the author. Even some less advanced exporting to HTML would certainly be a big advantage for DVDProfiler software. |
