I don't think a single response in this entire thread had anything to do with my original post.

I'm referring to the need to change to a new system entirely. Not the Star Wars titles. Not rule changes.

Perhaps some should go back and read more carefully. It'd also be nice if Ken would respond, given that the topic is addressed to him.

No response is a response!

No, it isn't.
"I am Andrew Ryan and I am here to ask you a question:
Is a man not entitled to the sweat of his own brow?

No, says the man in Washington. It belongs to the poor.
No, says the man in the Vatican. It belongs to God.
No, says the man in Moscow. It belongs to everyone.

I rejected those answers. Instead, I chose something
different. I chose the impossible. I chose…
Rapture."

I find it a bit sad that someone running a company would treat a customer in that manner, and thus, I hope you're wrong.

Are you telling me that there are not negative consequences to using titles that are not recognized anywhere else?  Or that people will know to look for bazaar titles (M:i:III) when searching?  If so, then you are in denial.

What negative consequences are you talking about? When you have the dvd you enter it or search for it by the title on the dvd or upc code. I'm not gonna search for it by the title that it is know by 'everywhere else' as you put it.

What if you don't have it and are trying to either add it to your wish list or order list.  You don;t have the DVD in front of you in that case!

If you have the DVD in your hand, the intelligent thign to do is add it by UPC, not title!

Well if it's between people who have the dvd and people who don't...who should the program be geared towards? I think the userabliity of the program should be geared towards those that have the dvd in their collection not those who don't. Besides there are plenty of internet resources where you can find the dvd you are looking for...in fact if you are searching for a dvd in DVD Profiler chances are you already know the title you are looking for.

I have to agree with , hal on this. You aren't worth the time and effort. As I recall there was term that someone else applied to you two and a half years ago that seem s applicable. You are a loose cannon. I have no intention of addressing your original post which quite frankly I felt was typical and totally in keeping with your past behaviors. I am embarassed that tried to defend you, that was my mistake.

The program is "geared toward" all three requirements, that's why there is an "Owned" tab, an "Ordered" tab and a "Wishlist" tab.

There is no need to sacrifice usability in one area for some "questionable" enhanced usability in another.

Just a damn minute!!!!!

I never said that Ross was not worth the time and effort!

And don't you dare put those kind of words in my mouth!!!!!!

I was taking a swipe at Ken for his continuous lack of communication with this community in general.

(and don't tell me he posts all the time)

I think it is impossible to speak of this subject here. I recently tried a poll on the subject, and it was sabotaged so that Ken had to lock it before it was possible to exchange constructive ideas.

Of course, I totally agree about the fact that there is a big problem concerning the future of dvdprofiler in some countries.  There were two french forum where we discussed of this program and they are dying since people are flying away because of the contribution system.

I personally have no need and just wanted to alert. I just got insults...

Now, I'm sure Ken saw my post (he locked it). He has at his disposal, I think, many statistics concerning users. I'm sure he'll take the good decisions for him. Anyway a local utilisation of the program is the most important thing, by far...

Anyone else see the irony in the bolded part?

Anyone?

That's how it goes here. Certain people *ahem* hold more power in the community than others, and if you present an idea they don't like, they make sure it never gets discussed. For some reason, Ken actually values the opinions of these people.

I agree with that. I'll take a very explicit example. In my last poll, I made a short history of the contribution system. Two users said there were flaws in it, one of them  adding spice with insults. But none of them give only one example of what was wrong in my statement. A constructive discussion could have been  to confront our views.

In fact, some people are obtaining what they want : making those who disagree with their opinion tired of all those sterile wars and quit those forums.

Largely because your posts are so redundant and repetitive, surfeur, that I can't even finish them all. You just drone on and on, no matter what anyone says to you, no matter how many polls are taken relative to what you WANT. I will wager that within two months you will post another poll on the same topic, and when it fails again and again and again. Granted you did not do the first poll, but it was still relative to what you want and it was roundly defeated. And in the interim you will periodically find a way to in some discussion or other to insert your whine, I am sorry I really don't like saying this, but it does get old and it is not going to get you what want.

Can't find something more productive to do, like....hmmm...I know Contribute according to the Rules and set your local as you wish.

None of you have any comprehension of who I am, I will tell you that your imagined picture of me is completely wrong, that is relative ti nearly EVERYBODY not just you surfeur. All of you have some bizarre notion of me and we can continue this garbage or you can listen to what I am trying to tell you. You will be treated in the way you treat me, and i am begging you surfeur stop it, youyr way is going nowhere I don't care how often you whine about it throw in your little jabs when you see a chance. We have a system, it works, just not the way you want it to.
