I thought we were finally past this issue, but I just got another no-vote from Skip based on case type. So, once again, the simple question: what's the case type for a fold-out 4-disc digipak, which itself is packaged in a cardboard outer case? Personally, I'm very much convinced that we choose "digipak" and then tick "slip cover", but among several 'yes'-votes, Skip remains against this, saying "Case is a Slip CASE not a Cover, Children would be Digipak".

For the record: it's certainly not a slipcase with four separate cases, again, it's one single fold-out digipak, which itself is packaged in an outer cover.

Who's right?

There is athread that defines this already, you don't need a poll and a poll changes NOTHING. Polls are not to be used to permit you to ignore the rules.

Let's try Ken himself, then:

Quoting Ken Cole:
Quote:
Slip Case should be used when the profile itself has no other case.  If the box set includes individual cases for children, all surrounded by a slip case, the box set profile will have slip case as the case type and the children will have their individual case types.  If the box set has a single multi-disc case surrounded by a cover, use the multi-disc case type for the box set and check the slip cover checkbox.blockquote]

By alll means quote Ken.

"If the box set includes individual cases for children, all surrounded by a slip case, the box set profile will have slip case as the case type and the children will have their individual case types."

This is a Digipak which has an outer SLIP CASE, therefore it is self-explanatory. His choice of wording is confusing at best, but the intent is pretty clear.

The link you give shows the EXACT kind of packaging that we're talking about here, with the 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' screenshot. Below it, it says: "This is a TV boxset. The case type will be digipak with the slip cover checkbox ticked. If used the child profiles have digipak as case type." So to back up your no-vote, you supply a link that supports MY point of view...?

It can't be made any clearer than this.

Yes, to me it's very clear, but to you apparently it isn't. Both Ken's instructions are clear, and the link you supplied yourself only confirms what I said. The profile we're talking about here is a TV set (children may be allowed, but currently not present), and there are no "individual cases for children".

I see what you are saying but i see noi distinction between TV and Movie. A Slip CASE has ONE way into the case while a Slip COVER has TWO, top and bottom, side to side whatever they choose.

Indeed! Why do we have to keep fighting the same battles over and over again? Come on Skip, you know you're wrong on this one, let's move on. Please.

This is the type of problem I have talked about repeatedly. ANYTIME you attempt to apply TWO or more definitions to the SAME thing you will cause problems. ONE DEFINITION AND ONE DEFINITION ONLY.

No IF THENS

Noooooooo! Ken made a conscious choice to move away from nonsense like this. Nobody in the world cares whether there is one way into a case, or two. When we discussed this thoroughly a few months ago, we decided (and Ken agreed) that it would be totally ridiculous to decide on a case type based on that, so Ken came up with a simpler plan:

Quoting Ken Cole:
Quote:
If the box set has a single multi-disc case surrounded by a cover, use the multi-disc case type for the box set and check the slip cover checkbox.

Again, there's our answer right there. I really thought we settled this, and now I find that you just kept quiet about this a few months, but still keep voting against updates which follows Ken's instructions to the letter. I must say I'm more than a little dissapointed.

If you have a problem with it, take it up with Ken. Don't take it out on my (correct!) contribution.

I can't believe we have this argument again. Ken made it very clear the last time. T!M is right

One unit in a sleeve = inner case type + slip cover
Multiple units in a sleeve = Slip Case, no slip cover

DVD Profiler doesn't care if the opening of the slip is on the side or top/bottom. Read through the thread you linked to once again Skip. You had the exact same problems on page three of that thread.

I read what you're saying, but it's not up to you to decide what is acceptable. This is Ken's choice and he already made the decision

Read through the thread you linked to (the entire thread) and you will see that you made the exact same  argument back then.

You can also read Ken's comment in another thread here

Sorry Skip, but you are wrong here

Sorry Skip,
I used to think it was the way you do, but Ken made it quite clear - if there is one physical unit containing the discs then it is digipak + slip cover, regardless of how many sides were open or how many profiles were involved.
