I recently audited a profile where there is a trivia track present (R2 UK - The Great Escape).

In the rules, it specifically states that Trivia track is a valid 'Other feature', so I added it. However - this is a "text-only" trivia track, and it had been such noted in the Subtitle section, and I've so far gotten one NO-vote on this basis.

What's the general opinion regarding Trivia tracks? Do we add them both under Features and Subtitles, or does one exclude the other?

Thanks in advance guys...

We do add it as subtitle. The rules just haven't been updated in this regard since we got the Trivia subtitle checkbox with Profiler V3.

Since it is already covered by the Trivia Track Subtitle check box, there is no reason to also include it in other features

But we do so anyway - the rules are very clear on this. Note that we also list audio commentary twice: under 'features' and under 'audio'. You're not saying we should stop ticking the 'commentary' feature checkbox because it's already listed under 'audio', right? Similarly, we list a trivia track both under 'subtitles' and under 'features'.

Not only do we list commentaries twice, we list them three times if they are subtitled as well.
I don't see anything wrong with having it listed in other features, especially since the rules specifically allow  them.

I suppose you're right...just seems redundant to me.

I've never seen a contribtion trying to add trivia to "Other Features" when trivia subtitle was checked, so I find it strange that here the perception is, that this old rule is still valid

Old rule?!

Are we not supposed to follow the rules as written until there has been a change implemented?

Also - are there only "text" trivias? Aren't there audio trivia tracks as well (with or without supplemental text?)

I've done it dozens of times - got approved every time - and I have also seen many others do it. After all: it's what the rules tell us to do, and again: it's not at all different from how we handle audio commentaries.

It is not a rule like "Do it like it is written here", but a note listing valid other features. You are allowed to add it there, but are not required to do so.
But as this note was added pre-implementation of the trivia checkbox, I choose to not list it as other feature and in my experience, most other users do so as well.

I think it makes sense to list it twice as when I'm looking at what special features are on a disc I'm going to look at the Features tab and that is where I expect to see it.  Why would I look at the Audio/Video or Subtitle tabs for special features?  Obviously, it makes sense to list it on those tabs as well if the audio track or the subtitles exist, but it also belongs on the Features tab.

Speaking of weird/other subtitles, here's one.

Bride of Re-Animator: Pionner Special Edition (013023031791)

The disc is dual-sided single layer but has widescreen or fullscreen on each side. This is done with a matting opition which is really a subtitle track that puts up the black bars for the 1.85 ratio. Techniaclly it's a subtitle track, as I can turn them off and on with the sub button while watching.

Should this get an "other" subtitle credit for the mattes?

Thats actually a pretty neat way to do it...though that would end up with black bars on all 4 sides with a widescreen tv i would imagine.

Yeah, it would never work with an anamorphic transfer. I thought it was the coolest thing ever until someone brought up the anamorphic issue on another site.

This also brings up the "production notes" vs. "trivia track" question. If there is a subtitle track that shows production notes for the filming of the feature, do we also check "Production Notes/Bios" in Special Features? Or is "Production Notes/Bios" only for freestanding features, and any production trivia track is an "Other Features" trivia track? What if the subtitle track is called a "Production Note Option" on the case?
