Hi @ll,

how can I change an EAN? 7 011569 995174 has to be 4 011569 995174. Someone has obviously made a mistake... The disc ID is correct and both covers to (on the submitted back cover is the correct EAN...)

But I cannot find a point to correct the EAN...

thanx in advance

from the menu: DVD at the bottom off that window: Change UPC
Sources for one or more of the changes and/or additions were not submitted. Please include the sources for your changes in the contribution notes, especially for cast and crew additions.

The technical answer is as Giga Wizard says... but you've got another problem!

4 011569 995174 is not a legal EAN so Profiler won't accept it (7 011569 995174 is legal BTW).

The last digit in an EAN is a check digit (like an advanced parity bit) for error checking... if the first 12 digits are 4 011569 99517 then the last (check) digit would be a 7. Sadly this means that the person who made the error was the company who distributed the DVD and often this indicates it's a pirate as pirates don't have to get the barcode right!

OTOH it may be worth using a barcode scanner to find out if it's just a printing error on the numbers.

I suspect the best thing would be to use the Change UPC (as described) but change it to the Disc ID and contribute via that method (being clear in the Notes as to why).
It is dangerous to be right in matters where established men are wrong

If the release indeed IS a pirate, then DON'T contribute it at all please. You can enter it locally ofcourse.

I don't think, that it's a pirate. EAN 4011569995174 seems to be correct. Odd...

It IS entirely possible that a legitimate DVD is sold with an invalid EAN that is not accepted by DVDProfiler. I've encountered such a case with an old Dutch profile that was transferred from IVS - it was converted wrongly (when adding the extra digit) and when I corrected the EAN to match the actual cover, DVDP told me it was invalid. Had to resort to ask the screeners to delete the profile and then resubmitted by Disc ID...
