The Greek letter Pi.

I enter exactly what I see on the cover (or screen).

I wouldn't have any problem with using the Greek character if the program will see it properly. I would set up my sort title as Pi.

That doesn't work in Profiler. It will only return the Greek small letter p.

For the capital use U + 03A0
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

Seems not to work

EDIT: though the Pi sign shows while editing the message it turns into a questionmark when you submit it. Strange

It seems some people will go to any lengths to ensure that nobody will find certain DVDs when adding profiles by title. (*) Just ask yourself what you would enter to find the movie.

(*) Although in Martin's case it might have been just sarcasm. But with these discussions, you can never be sure.

Agreed.

Until such time as DVD supports Unicode, I believe we should use "Pi" as the title. Once we get Unicode support, the title can be re-edited.

As mindless as it seems, if the rule is written as the original poster says he sees it (I don't believe it is), the title should be left blank.

As to the "Pi" title; "Pi" is the understood "written version" of the symbol (at least in American English). The idea when writing the rule was to avoid the use of symbols (even mathematical) and/or graphics or logo's of any kind in the title field.

Bottom line is...... the rule needs to be re-written.

I agree with Goodguy - what would you type in to search for the movie?  I kinda doubt that most people would bother with typing out the character, they would most likely type in "pi".

Another example, the Batman movie given previously.  How many people would type in "(-|-)" to look for it?

Yes it was. I do not understand why some users like to make things more difficult for themselves than absolutly necessary.
