I know I don't.

Are they called Brussel Sprouts in Belgium?  I've never been there, so I wonder if it's like French fries (pommes frites).  (I've never been to France, either.)

Welcome to european cuisine 101

Official languages of Belgium are dutch, french and german.

Brussels Sprouts
Dutch: de spruitjes
French: chou de Bruxelles
German: Rosenkohl

French Fries
French: frites
German: Pommes Frites

Thanks for the education in cuisine, Karsten.  I had been wondering for some time.

I remember my father saying that during World War I, anti-German sentiment (my family heritage is German, BTW) was so great that they stopped calling the cabbage dish sauerkraut and called it "Liberty Cabbage" instead.  My father also told me that although his surname was German, many people wanted to disassociate themselves from the mother country during WWI.  In fact, it wasn't until my grandfather had died in 1938 (20 years after the Big War) that my dad found out that he (my grandfather) could not only read German but had a German-language newspaper delivered to his office every morning of his working life.  Evidently feelings ran quite strong in those days.  Probably most of those feelings stemmed from bad, anti-Axis propaganda rampant during those days.

I like brussels sprouts...in a nice garlic butter.
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.

French Fries weren't invented in France.  However, Belgium Waffles were invented in Belgium.

kdh1949, is your real name "Dave"?  That would explain so much with your relationship with Hal9g.

The Dutch word for chicory is "witlof", but you may also encounter "Brussels lof".

French fries should be called Belgian fries, because that's where they were "invented".

Probably some ignorant American again who started talking of French fries... - THIS WAS A POLITICALLY INCORRECT JOKE!

The only problems I have with Surfeur are ...
(2) that after saying he doesn't contribute anymore (which is clearly his right) he is disappointed that there aren't more French profiles available.  If someone doesn't contribute, for WHATEVER reason, he shouldn't be upset that there aren't may profiles to download.  Surfeur hasn't made this complaint in a long while, though.

I'm not at all disappointed not to find profiles to download. In fact, generally, when I find one, it takes me more time to make it match with my local preferences than to build a new one from scratch.

The problem I wanted to show is that many french contributors had left, and even if I contributed those I have that would not solve anything for hundreds of DVDs I don't have in my collection.

I'm seeing that dvdprofiler is dying in my country, and this is what disappoints me, and I know rule system is the main cause as many ex-contributors told me directly. The main cause is that they don't speak english, and they have many difficulties to understand why their contributions are refused. When there were no notes on first contribution, this was not a problem, and at that time, there was a translation of rules available, I had made with other users.

I recall suggesting that you consider working with other French users to come up with a translation for the new rules that would help the former contributors understand why their contributions were being refused. But I also seem to recall you weren't interested because you disagreed with the rules.  I can't see where there is anything in the rules that COULDN'T be translated, even if the translator didn't agree with those rules.  But, you will have to suit yourself.

A rules translation was useful as long as it was not necessary to write notes in english. Notes in other languages are generally refused, and I can understand that since screeners cannot speak all languages in the world. As long as notes in english are requested, no need to translate rules...

And to spend more time here, I would prefer have less hateful messages, as last I received in private.

So if I understand correctly the main reason many French contributors have left is their inability to write English and not to read it.

I would not believe that for a second. Mostly that they had to document their contribution. They did understand enough English to find DVD-Profiler, install it and use it.
Sources for one or more of the changes and/or additions were not submitted. Please include the sources for your changes in the contribution notes, especially for cast and crew additions.
