| | Posted: | | | | For those of you voting Yes, check again. The ORIGINAL release in 2005, was and remains a SINGLE Dual-Sided disc. The title has been scheduled for re-release, But, to date, it is NOT and never has been a TWO-Disc set.There was a November 2007 re-release, new UPC # with Movie Money for the Golden Compass and it appears to be scheduled for re-release again next month with a a Full Screen Version and a separate Widescreen Version. The UPC of my version is 794043749728. I have it in my hand, am looking at it as I type, and can provide pictures if needed. Could it be a rerelease? Yes, but I doubt it. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.

So to me it sounds like the 2-disc version is probably a re-release? (Mine's locked either way. I'm just trying to help. ) My copy also has a copyright of 2005. It is starting to look like they released both versions. Maybe there was a problem in the dual sided pressings and they decided to change to a dual disc format. Nothing on the cover indicates that it is a two-disc version. But the user indicates that it indeed was probably a tandem release...though it seems a peculiar title for such a thing. So Ken needs to allow for the same UPC with the new found data, just as he did T2: UE. Very odd.

| | Posted: | | | | I have a backup installation of the last DVDP 2.5 beta along with a non-customized database of whatever was online at Intervocative for my profiles right after the changeover. My Intervocative profile for The Notebook lists 2 discs. Reviewing the contribution notes at IVS, I can't really tell how that data was introduced there, but it was somehow. My personal copy, purchased on release day, is dual-sided. That's how I reflect it in my Invelos database. This again raises the issue that a UPC is not a unique identifier. I encountered this with Lost Season One where my version, purchased on release day, did not have a second English Stero track, whereas most people had versions with two English audio tracks, 5.1 and stereo. I think it would be good to have the unique key formed from a combination of UPC, version (eg. "1" for the dual-sided release of The Notebook and "2" for the two-disc version both released on the same day) and release day (for situations where different versions are released on different days, such as different covers, removal of widescreen or full screen, etc). | | | ...James

UPCs are indeed sometimes reused.
What we seem to have is two versions: (1) "The Notebook" UPC 794043749728 (single dual-sided disc -- original version) and (2) "The Notebook" UPC 794043749728 (two separate discs -- later version)
Because the cover does not indicate "Two-Disc Set," my guess is there was a production problem with the dual-sided disc which was solved by pressing separate discs. |

Skip Sounds like it. Didn't The Stand have this too, or that just the re-issues that were single discs? For the record, my T2:UE is still a single disc. |
