| Posted: | | | | The german title of "Home Improvement" is "Hör mal, wer da hämmert".
If (for example) the first season were "Hör mal, wer da hämmert: Die komplette erste Staffel" what would be the OT?

Home Improvement: Season 1 Home Improvement Home Improvement: The Complete First Season My German is sketchy at best...but I would opt for your third suggestion. Steve |

| Posted: | | | | I would use the name of the show, nothing more. The production year will serve to identify the season in most cases. | | | First registered: February 15, 2002 |

I always include the season indicator in the original title. Otherwise I would have have eight entries "Home Improvement", without having a clue what season set it is, in the collection list when using original title for the collection list. | | |

| Posted: | | | | I would use Show Title: Season X
For original title, I wouldn't use things like "The Complete First Season" or any variation, since this is a naming convention for DVD's, and has some variation between countries and localities. | | | View my collection at http://www.chriskepolis.be/home/dvd.htm

Indeed - this is why the season indicator MUST be repeated in the "original title" field. |

| Posted: | | | | I would use the title, if available, from the DVD release in the country of origin. As this is an American show, I would use the title from the American release. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. | Posted: | | | | I personally say that by the Rules it's just the title eg Home Improvement.
Whether locally you want to add season titles so you can look at 'Orginal Title' instead of 'Title' and still see the different seasons is up to you. | | | It is dangerous to be right in matters where established men are wrong |

Quote: Indeed - this is why the season indicator MUST be repeated in the "original title" field. Does this means it has to be: "Home Improvement: Die komplette erste Staffel"? That's what I'd do, yes: I only apply the "original title" principe to the actual title of the show, but not to the season indicator - I'd just copy that unchanged. For the record, the rules say to take the original title "from the copyright notice if available, otherwise from the film's credits." Well, something like "The Complete First Season" is neither found in the copyright notice, nor in the credits. So I simply don't see any basis in the rules at all that would allow us to change the season indicator in any way. IMHO, "title" and "season indicator" are simply two different things. The way DVD Profiler is set up means we have to enter both pieces of data into one field, and the rules indeed specifically tell us to. But they remain two separate pieces of data. The whole "original title" principe applies to "titles", and it's indeed interesting to track that 'Hör mal, wer da hämmert' is actually called 'Home Improvement'. But as I see it, "original title" just doesn't apply to season indicators, and that's why I'd keep those unchanged. | | | Last edited: by T!M |

| Posted: | | | | Well, in that case, I revoke my agreement with T!M. For me the original title of the given sample would be "Home Improvement: The Complete First Season". | | | Matthias |

Can you show me how the rules would support, or even allow that in any way? Again, let me quote the rules on the original title field: "Use the title from the copyright notice if available, otherwise from the film's credits." | | | Last edited: by T!M |

If you're using the original title of the show, you could might as well use the season indicator of the original US DVD too. | | | Martin Zuidervliet
