And BluRays are not even annoced. They would have a price of about 60-80€ for every season, too. And season 4 won't be released in germany before fall 2010. At the moment the exchange rate is not bad, so this set would cost me about 180€ and I say: YES! |

Just saw the following prices at a "Saturn": Lost Season 4 (only 14 episodes): 64,99€ Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles (only 9 episodes): 54,99€ Band of Brothers (only 10 episodes): 89,99€ (!!!) Sure, you get them a bit cheaper when ordering online, but one a pure "price per episode"-level the BSG-set has a more than fair price IMHO. |

Everybody knows that you can't find a store in Germany where you pay more for anything than in a Saturn. You still pay a hundred dollars more for the Blu-ray than for the DVD: BSG at Amazon UK for 89 GBP (140 USD)The entire show has an approximate runtime of 3600 minutes (60 hours). The DVD costs you 2.33 $/hour; Blu-ray 4.08 $/hour. | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online

DVD costs you 2.33 $/hour; Blu-ray 4.08 $/hour. Don't know about the BluRays, but the UK-DVDs are missing most of the extra features. |

The DVD costs you 2.33 $/hour; Blu-ray 4.08 $/hour. The box is only that cheap for us because of the weak GBP. |

Is there work involved in creating a Blu-ray instead of a DVD that's worth a hundred dollars more? The Blu-ray has a bigger storage capacity so the authoring guy has to lower the compression rate. That's about it. Quoting Peter von Frosta: Quote: The box is only that cheap for us because of the weak GBP. First of all I made a GBP/USD comparison. Second of all the dollar isn't on a high either. | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online

More importantly, for all we know, the studio will add a new lossless audio remix and clean up the image to get a good 1080p visual (and not a crappy upconverted picture). BD specific extra's like PiP, BD Live and such is also a possibility. All that is worth the extra money for me. | | | Blu-ray collection DVD collection My Games My Trophies |

| Posted: | | | | Micha,
explain to me why you compare the US Blu-ray market with the german DVD market? It's like comparing the gas milage of a Toyota Prius with that of an M1A1 Abrams tank.
I totally agree with you that the german series DVDs are heavily overpriced. That's the reason most of my stuff comes from UK or US.
But if you want to be fair, you have to compare the prices in the same market, for example:
Lost S4 costs $36.99 on Amazon US. That makes 2.64$ per episode. The BSG box (245/74) costs 3.31$ per episode
I paid 25.56€ for the fourth Lost season (Ama UK) -> 1.82€/ep
And when I bought BoB as a gift for my cousin, I paid 19.99€ for the uncut version in a MediaMarkt.
All I was trying to say was that it is too expensive in my opinion. I paid only 80 dollars for the entire Buffy series (7 seasons, 144 episodes) or 90 pounds Friends (10 seasons, 236 eps). | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online
