I want to export only the cast & crew for only the profiles I've selected (spread over owned and wishlist). So I flag the profiles I want to use and select: Backup Database. Then I select custom backup with these options checked:
- backup flagged entries only
- include cast/crew databases with photos

However, I have the impression the I get a backup then of my entire cast/crew database, not just the selected profiles' cast/crew: I've only flagged 5 profiles but get a 300Mb backup file 

Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

Do NOT include cast/crew. Only backup flagged entries only. The cast and crew associated with these profiles will be exported.

So, you want the headshots without the profiles?

Then you've done nothing wrong. But after the backup you have to make a new db, import your backup file and then do a repair – important: (1) select "Full" (2) select "Custom" (3) uncheck "Preserve cas/crew with images". Last step is to export the "repaired" db to a file – voilà!

//edit2: I forgot: before the last export, you should delete the profiles!

YES! That's what I want to do. Thanks for the info. I'll try it out and if it works, I can upload my first version of the Japanese cast & crew headshot file 

I think it worked and have just uploaded the file. Green arrow for you, Muckl! 

Sorry to drag this old topic up again, but I'm ready to export a v2 of the Japanese cast & crew headshots but I seem to keep failing.

Can someone please post a step-by-step guide for dummies on how to export only cast & crew for flagged profiles? I'll keep a copy of that guide on my computer then so I don't need to bother you guys anymore.

Create a new database, called HMDB.

Open the new database and perform a full restore of the exported profiles.

Now perform a "Custom Backup" again and select only "Include cast/crew databases, with photos".
